I replaced my computer on a 95 Ultra. It is up under the dash behind the glove box next to the fire wall. There are three large connectors attached to it each about two inches wide. It will be easier if you remove the glove box to access it. Make sure to disconnect your battery before you pull the unit. There are two snap connectors you will have to carefully dislodge form the ecm with a flat screwdriver for it to come loose. Have patience and when you get it out make sure that you remove the little chip inside the unit under the little panel with screws. When you get the new unit install your old chip inside of it and repkace the small panel. Install is the reverse of above. The old chip is specific to YOUR CAR. The new computer won't work without it. I got a reman ecm @ Auto zone for about $110 exchange. Good luck!!!

First codes were 201 300 301 put in reman comp. codes were202 300 302 another reman comp code is 203. are the remans bad or other problem

You mean P0202 , an what engine does yours have ? 2.6 L ,3.3 L , 3.6 L or 5.7 L ?
DTC P0201, P0202, P0203, P0204, P0205, or P0206
The engine control module (ECM) enables the appropriate fuel injector on the intake stroke for each cylinder. Ignition voltage is supplied directly to the fuel injectors. The ECM controls each fuel injector by grounding the control circuit via a solid state device called a driver. The ECM monitors the status of each driver. If the ECM detects an incorrect voltage for the commanded state of the driver, a fuel injector control DTC sets.
Test your fuel injector for cylinder #3 ! Do you know how to do that ?
You probably changed computers for nothing ! Check out this video on testing fuel injector circuits an checking computer driver that controls the injectors , Oh , by the way P0300 P0301 an P0302 are misfire codes , P0300 is a random misfire an the other two are for cylinders 1&2

1995 Volvo dies when M.A.F sensor is connected. Once unplug it runs perfect. I replaced it and still did the same. I think computer is the fault but not sure. I have clean throttle body and it has not...

It sounds like the ECM is damaged. Usually this sensor is hardwired direct to computer. If old one shorted out than it probably damaged the computer. Still could be a bad MAF that you got. These things are sensitive to being dropped or handeled rough.

They are simply plug and play. I am not sure of the vehichle so I can't direct you to it. But one unplugs and the new one plugs in. Unhook your battery before changing this out.

Had to replace ecu / ecm car stay now at low idle handler thinks throttle body issue also replaced spark plugs could

There are 3 things that must be done when replacing the ECM and all of these will cause the idle to be off as each of these procedures has to do with "teaching" the computer how to work with different sensors in order to run and idle correctly. The first would be the accelerator pedal released position learning procedure. Next would be the throttttle valve closed learning procedure and finally what's called an idle air volume learning procedure. The first 2 must be done even if the ECM was just disconnected. The last one must be done if the ECM was replaced and if you do the last one the first 2 must be done first. Nissan s are very detailed in their systems. If certain things are not done your computer/ECM just doesn't know what to do. Did the person replacing your ECM due these procedures ? It is much easier to do these with the proper diagnostic equipment but it is possible to be done without it. If you have any questions on how to do these, feel free to comment on here or email me directly at and I will be happy to try and walk you through it.

Hi i was driving my car all of a sudden my engine light comes on and starts shacking. i bring it to the mechanic he tells me that i need a new car computer (ecm) i get a new ecm car the car works fine...

If the same mechanic keeps telling you to replace the ECM and the ECM does not make a permanent difference, especially after what, three ECM repalcements? Then yes, the issue is elsewhere. If the same mechanic also tells you the #4 is the issue, why then would they tell you to replace the ECM? This will not correct the problem with the #4 cylinder.
I suggest taking it to a different mechanic, tell them what happened - and have the direct issue addressed. Stop wasting your money on ECM's. Refurbished or not, the odds of getting bad ones that many times in a row is zero to nothing.
Please let ME know if you need further assistance.

I am having trouble with my EVAP system. i have power to the cannister purge valve but it will not actuate. if i hook the valve directly to the battery it does.

The purge vavles are controlled by the ECM. It will have power all the time to it and the ecm grounds it out to activate it. The ECM can be checked with a hand held computer, Garage. Also the purge vavle only works under specific engine tempertures and loads.

How do you replace a eec on 95 taurus do you have to have a salvage computer from junkyard reset to the car.

Your ecm is behind your glove compartment and goes through your firewall when you pull it out their will be a tag on it you need one weather new or used with the same numbers on it.make sure your problem is not your wireing harnes directly behind the engine the harness sometime comes loose and drops onto the manifold slowly melting the wires and shorting out the ecm .causeing intermittent problems. The only reset on ecm is remove battery cable when replaceing and reconnect cable when completed please rate this if you find helpful
