You should have 12 volts at the gray wire. The black is ground make sure and use this wire also. This way you know the ground is good also. When you turn the key on you will only get battery voltage for 2 seconds with the key on.If you crank the motor then you will get battery voltage also.Hope this helps.Good luck.

Replace the TCM to fix the converter clutch problem.. The line 12 volt is direct power from the battery and 7 volts out the I am suspicious off as I think that the coil for the relay is partially shorting out to give the 7 volts. As for the other wire 12 volts in would be ok but if there is nothing out unless it is a relay that has not closed because the relay coil has not activated correctly.. Check the readings against a new relay.

I have 1987 Chevy Silveraldo Fuel Pump lost its 12 Volts

i had the same problem, its the fuel pump relay, pull the relay, pop off the plastic top, insert a shim so that the points are always touching, the other thing it could be is the pigtail connector coming off of the fuel pump inside the tank, chronic chevy problem

2000 chevy silverado 1500 4.8 4wd will not start

Your pump is controlled by the pcm using a 12 volt signal to the relay. Pull out the relay and probe the relay socket with a voltmeter. There should be 2 terminals with 12 volts when the key is on. With the key off, there should be one 12 volt terminal coming from the ecm b fuse. See top left of diagram below.

Fuel pump not coming on,installed new one, white plug that has a yellow wire has 5 volts and ground is ok the 2 wires in the center shows 0

The plug you are referring to is probably the fuel tank pressure sender not the fuel pump. It would be plugged into a black sensor about 2 inches long pushed into a rubber grommet on the fuel bung. The fuel pump connector would have more that 2 wires going to it. most likely a heavy purple wire would be the power to the pump. It has to have 12 volts to it to work. The sender may have 3 wires, 5 volts, ground, and sense. the pump connector would have 12 volts, ground and 5 volts for the fuel gauge sender down in the tank.
If the 12 volts is not there, check the fuel pump relay. it is usually up on the drivers side firewall.
With the key in the on position without starting the engine, you should have 12 volts to the pump for 3 seconds then it will click off. Without cranking the engine you should be able to locate the relay by the clicking sound.
There is also the obvious, like checking the fuel pump fuse.

2000 grand am. replaced relay, fuse, and fuel pump. still is not getting fuel to fuel rail. 5 volts is present at fuel pump but not 12 volts to run pump. reset passlock.....still do not have 12 volts at...

Pull the relay and make sure you have 12 volts there. Pin # 30 is the power to the pump. this will tell you which way you have to go to find a short or corrosion in the wires. let me know

Have a 2001 fiat punto..was running then just cut out...got spark no fuel pressure ...have located the fuel pump....4 wires going to pump...on 1 of the wires on ignition its 12 volts but when you crank it...

Have you had the fuel pump output pressure checked....Sounds as if it could be defective.....Pressure should be above 3 .6 bar Or maybe check your battery condition, that may be the problem, but more likely the pump....

I need to know how to test the fuel pump for power, and determine if its failure is due to wiring, and not itself?

The pump in your truck is a common failed part. This is more so if you run the truck below 1/4 tank often. Disconnect the wiring from the top of the fuel tank and test the wires for voltage when you turn the key to start. The voltage should be present for about 3-5 seconds. If you have 12 volts then replace the pump. There will be voltage present on another wire also. 5 volts. This low voltage is for the fuel level sender.

On my 1994 plymouth voyager the 3 wire harness to fuel pump (blue wire) doesn't have 12 volts; should it? fuel pump quit then worked once when hot-wired with 12 volts. fuse and relay is good.

The wire should not be hot until the relay is triggered. The relay does not get triggered until the ignition key is turned on. It will run for 3-5 seconds or until the system pressure it at max.
