Question about 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee
How are you testing power to the starter? If you are testing the large wire that goes to the starter when the key is in the start position and you have power to it, then it is the starter. It sounds like it is the starter solenoid. You can take the starter and the solenoid off and take them to Autozone and have them tested. If the starter spins, but just don't turn the engine over, it is the bendix in the starter. But if it doesn't do anything at all then I would say that you don't have power to the solenoid or the solenoid is bad. Sometimes you can give the solenoid a whack with something and it will work. This will tell you if it is the solenoid.
