How about the security light on dashboard? It flashes every 2 sec. When u turn the key on it should stay on constanly for 3 sec then go off. If it flashes rapidly, like mine did, then it isnt reading the key. I took some electronic contact cleaner and sprayed it in the ignition whele slidin the key in an out. And it works now. I have to tilt the steerin wheel all the way down also. Not sure why. It took me a while to fig out what was going on with it. I even chngd the pump. It cuts the pwr off to the pump. but there is pwr at safety switch. If it stops wrkn again i will run a wire from it to pump. Better than new sec key and computer. Also when you start it for first time ea day. Turn key on till u hear pump run and stop. Then turn off and on again so it will build up more fuel pressure. Hope this helps. When I put gas in the tank, the pump cuts off several times like its full which it isn't. Any idea what causes that.

The vent valve is stuck closed or you have a pinched hose . It has to do with the Evaporative emission's system ! There is a charcoal canister under the vehicle that stores gas fumes and a vent valve that allows the air in the tank to escape while fueling the vehicle, an during use fuel expands an the fuel vapors get stored in the charcoal canister an at times the engine control module turns on a purge solenoid that is connected to a engine vacuum supply allowing the fuel vapors to drawn into the engine to be burned ! My car engine wont turn over

If it will not turn over or crank over it's not the fuel, its a battery issue or starter issue. If it's cranking over and not starting check the fuel interrupt switch in the trunk, check the fuel tank for fuel, your gauge could be wrong, check your fuel pump fuses and relay found under the hood. You'll find the locations of these items in your owners manual. If none of these check for power at the fuel tank connectors for power for the fuel pump, if you have power you may have a bad fuel pump. Take it to a repair shop for help before you try to change the pump!

I have a 1999 lincoln continental and was driving and shut off and the ignition turns, I have full power but it will not start

Your fuel pump inertia switch may have tripped off. I think it is in the trunk. Reset it. See owner manual for location.

good test is to turn key to ON and listen for hum of fuel pump in gas tank for seconds.

Tried to start car, battery ok, starter turns over ok but engine won't start.

Might check to see if fuel pump needs to be reset. There is a reset in the trunk on the drivers side. Check all fuses. Listen if you can hear the fuel pump running when you turn the key to the RUN position, could be a bad fuel pump. Make sure you have gas, fuel gauge may not be working. Sounds like you have a fuel issue. Hope this helps, good luck.

How to reset fuel shut off switch in trunk of a 1997 lincoln ctnl

just press the button to reset it. Per your owner manual. Should only trip in an accident.

WHen you turn on the key, can you hear the fuel pump run for 5 seconds. The pump is in the fuel tank. listen there while someone turns the key on. report back.
