This is difficult, due to its location. Though it is a simple two bolt GM starter, unless you have a lift, a good selection of tools, and a lot of patience you will be happier to pay a local shop for an hour or two of labor to do this for you.

I hae a 1998 Saturn SL that will not start. All the dash lights, radio etc come on. Car gives a clicking noice but will not turn over.

You should check your ignition switch first. Since you have lights, you have a charge. If you have a good fuse, you probably need a starter solenoid or starter.

Where is the starter and solinod for a 1998 sl2 saturn

solenoid is on top the starter. starter is on the back of the engine, under the intake manifold and fuel injection system. you need a lift to get at it.

I justt purchased my 1998 sl saturn and all it needed was a tune up...but when i went to start the car the starter blew...what do you think could of cause this problem?

I never saw a starter blow up, I have seen many just wear out from age and use, like all other organic and mechanical devices. If it lasted 10 years, it did its job. On Saturn S cars replacing a starter is a headache and is a job best left to someone with a lift and tools.

I have 1998 saturn sl 2 car starts after 5 or 6

Spray ether into the air intake and see if it still takes 5 or 6 cranks...if it starts immediately, it is fuel related, perhaps fuel presure regulator is bad. If the ether doesn't change is most likely a cam sensor...good luck!

How do i put a starter in a 1998 saturn sl

disconnect the battery cables,,go under the car,the starter is under the intake manifold,,,disconnect the 13mm or 14mm nut one the starter and wire and then disconnect the 8mm or 10mm(different depending on years) and remove the wire, then you have to 13mm bolts that hold the starter to the engine, remove the top bolt first you cant see it but you can feel it,,,then remove the bottom one and the starter will fall out and thats it
