Question about 1994 Pontiac Grand Am

The car is over heating every few days. The only place that we can find a leak is when it is over heating and the leak is at the cap for the over flow. Car has new radiator, thermostat and water pump

No cold AC or hot heat in car

Make sure the water is system is full, not from the reservoir but from the cap above the radiator. Also check for Air locks. Run the car up to temperature with the cap OFF and squeeze the hoses. If the levels drops or any spills over, top it up.

If that doesn't fix it, replace the thermostat. They are cheap enough. Final thing is the valve that opens and closes the flow of water to the heater core. This is the part that controls cool, through warm to hot.

AC needs professional repair and probably has a leak. Having said that, autoshops have leak sealers, gauges and R12 refrigerant. In my day, you just opened the window :>)

Engine light,

99% of the time, the gas cap wasn't tightened properly, or is leaking. Make sure you twist it tight and it clicks a few times. If the "Check Engine" light stays on after a few days, buy a new gas cap. Again it may take a few days to clear.

My car overheated yesterday. I pulled over and let it cool down. I opened the hood of my car and there was lot's of steam. It cooled down and I drove it home. I just started it to see what's wrong. I...

thats due to low or no coolant, you shouldnt drive this overheating engine damage will occur, the first thing is to fill the radiator up, and look around for any leaks, if no leaks are seen, then start engine and allow it to warm up, leave cap off at first to top off coolant, after a few minutes install cap and let it run, keep an eye on the temp gauge and also watch for leaks. this problem is due to a coolant leak, maybe a hose is bad or it was low on coolant or you have a bad thermostat, good day.

My check engine light came on. I used my scanner and got 2 codes. P0452 & P0456. What repairs must I make?

Probably nothing. These are EVAP leak codes. You have a fairly new vehicle so between that and the fact that the vast majority of EVAP leak codes are caused from gas gaps. Chances are last time it was fueled, the cap did not get placed on correctly or tightened enough. If your cap clicks when its tight, make it click 6 times before you close the fuel door. That is more than likely all that's wrong.Your fuel system (tank, lines, etc.) will pressurize itself periodically and it will monitor that pressure over time. It looks to make sure that the pressure remains constant indicating no leaks and when it releases the pressure it checks to make sure the pressure has in fact dropped. If your fuel cap is not sealed COMPLETELY, some of that pressure will escape through that cap. The EVAP system records this as a leak and will throw a check engine light. This light does not come on immediately after fueling, it may be a few days even depending on the drive cycles (how many starts, stops and distance of driving). They will usually clear themselves too after so many drive cycles of everything checking out normal, which again, can be a few days. Do not worry yourself though. Even if this code is not caused by the cap, it does not affect drivability or reliability. This will not leave you stranded on the side. This is one of those stupid government emission things.

My gas cap 2005 grand prix

If the cap was tight. It could be a different leak. Drive a few days. If the light doesnt go out, a Garage will need to check it for you, there may be more to it, like an evaporative leak.

My car has been running hot for the past few days, and my heat completely stopped working yesterday, i checked the antifreeze and it was bone dry, there is a huge puddle in my driveway. Where could it be...

Check the following while running the engine, with coolant topped up:
The plastic reservoir bottle could be cracked check for leaks.
One or more of the hose-clamps aren't sealing well enough.Re-tighten or replace.
The radiator cap seal is torn or broken this would be obvious by steam and/or sputtering water at cap level.Replace cap.
The radiator might have sprung a leak or rusted through.Repair or replace radiator.
The cooling hoses may have perished.Replace.
Check around the water pump as one of it's seals or bearings me be worn out.Repair or replace.
Hope that helps! Good luck!
