If the radio is security coded which is activated it will not work after the battery has been disconnected,it is much safer to connect another battery before disconnecting the original battery.....hope this helps.....cheers

Hazard lights coming on by themselves while parked 2003 BMW 530i

That is an indication that the alarm has been triggered. Does the beep work when you lock or unlock the car? If it does not sound when you do that, the lights are likely the alarm triggered. Check the hood switch, which is a common problem around this age...

Is it possible to convert a 2003 BMW 530i from a auto to a manual? What is involved and how much would it cost?

While it is possible to convert any E39 from an automatic to a manual, it is a very difficult and expensive task. Cost depends entirely on the parts you want to use (new or used?). While you could perform the changeover mechanically, the electronics & wiring issues would likely be prohibitive to do the work yourself - there are multiple computers in the 530i, and all of the systems management in an automatic are different from those in a car with a manual transmission.

2003 BMW 530I -- will not start

From the information you have given, the battery has reached the end of it's useful life.
It simply needs replacing,not recharging.

Borrow a known good battery from a friend or family, then see if the same thing happens.Someone must have a spare battery in their garage you could use.

I had a similar problem, 2003 530i, but only while the alarm was active. The culprit was a bad hood switch that was making intermitent connection.
