Its most likely your brake switch. Its located up behind your pedal. Its either a push pin or it looks like a black box with screws to take out. Please rate answer!! Thank you

My tail lights work just fine but my brake light will not light up when my brakes are being used, is it a fuse issue or wiring? 2003 Mitsubishi Montero Sport LS

Could be the brake light switch that is activated when you push the brake pedal. It is usually located by the brake pedal. When the pedal is up it pushes the switch in, no power to brake light. W HEN YOU PRESS PEDAL, SWITHCH BUTTON COMES OUT SENDING POWER TO BRAKE LIGHTS. CHECK THIS SWITCH FIRST.

Brake lights don't work change everthing

behind your brake pedal is a switch of some sort. it tells the brake lights to come on. check your fuses in the fuse box, and push the brake pedal with your hand and look how the brake switch hits the brake pedal ? is it touching and connected to the wires.

98 VILLAGER BRAKES LIGHTS NOT COMING ON AFTER

If you have checked all your fuses and the brake light bulbs are good then the brake light switch might be bad, it should be located on a bracket at the top of the brake pedal. when you press on the brake pedal it pushes this switch in to activate the brake light's.

Locked gearshift, no brake lights

If you are SURE that the brake light fuse is good? If so, check the brake lamp switch above the brake pedal, see if it is somehow disconnected. Check for power, at both sides of the brake fuse...and, check for poweer coming into and out of the brake switch (when pushing the brake pedal) with a 12 volt testlight. If the brake fuse is good, and you have power coming TO the brake switch, and not out of it, you need to replace the brake light switch.
OTOH, the brake switch just might need a small adjustement, too...If power is at both sides.
Note that the brake light switch ALSO powers/releases the shifter lock solenoid. You cannot take it out of park without pressing on the brake pedal.
Hope this helps you solve your problem.
