Question about 1998 Acura TL

1 Answer

My air conditioner/heater fan blows strong for about 15 seconds and slows down to a stop. It does make some noise while it slows down. Is this the blower motor going bad?

No heat blowing cold air.

Do you smell coolant inside of the vehicle. If so then chances are your heater core is going.

Ac blowing fog like stuff

That is in fact fog, or water vapor inside the passenger compartment. The system could be freezing up, or it could have a lack of air flow, or too much water collecting inside the ac heater box.

Why won't the air conditioner blow air?

The very first thing you need to do is to check for fuses or say faulty fuse. Secondly check fan which starts along with air conditioner, it might be manually switched off or the fan may have been clogged. Also reason can be lack of refrigerant - charge your air conditioner with refrigerant. Last thing you need to check is cooling coil - the cooling coil may freeze if there is no refrigerant in the system.

When i get in my jimmy to go to work its blowing hot air( with the heater on of course) and then there is a creaking noise coming from the blower motor area, then the heater will start blowing cold air...

Because the Main Gear in the Blend Motor has cracked or teeth have chipped and is now not keeping the heat/cold door to the Hot position. 3 fixes: Buy a new Blend motor, takes about 5mins to replace. Buy a new Blend Motor Gear, will take about 30mins to fix. Repair current gear with Epoxy, takes about 30mins and 12hrs for the glue to set up strong enough to use it.

My truck is running cold on the freeway but when I slow down and stop it starts to heat up a little. I changed the thermostat and am going to change the heater core could it be something else

yes could be problem with the radiator fan(s) not running at any road speed. Check the fan(s) for noise-free turning by hand. Check fan fuse and relay (swap with similar relay). Turn on the air conditioner which should immediately turn on the fan(s). Overheating while driving could very well be the thermostat--you will need to drain the cooling system before replacing the unit. Blow out the radiator core with compressed air from the engine side to remove bugs and other debris first. Hope this helps!

When car picks up speed the heat blows. when u stop or slow down. cold air blows

Tell me when you speed up is the heater set on hot and high speed?????
WHEN you slow down is the fan still going at the same speed or dose it go very slow when on idle.
If the Fan stays on high but runs cold when going about 80 in top but when you speed up it gets hot and then back off slightly then its sounds like Water pump isent pumping the water around the engine correctly ,but then it should make the engine run overheated.or it could be a slipping fanbelt, but then that should make the Alternator to make a noise,so {throttle to 2000 rpm from idle standind still} and see if there's a noise coming from the water pump area.
The belt should have just a little free movement more on the longest part of the belt(a very little about 1/8' movement
So check it out and let ne know how you get on .

Hot air blows but cools down in 15-20 seconds.

You likely have a restriction in the heater coolant hose circuit - perhaps a coolant control valve not fully opening, or a kinked hose.
Insufficient coolant volume is flowing to keep the heater core hot.
Try back flushing the heater core system with a garden hose to check flow.

When I turn on the air conditioner after a few seconds it starts making a horrible noise....it works when the noise is not there, but once the noise starts the it doesn't blow as strong.

Usually you get a horrible noise, once the compressor starts...May be the instant the compressor starts the voltage drops down and so it doesnt blow as strong as you expect... If u expect a comparitively heavy blow then adjust the thermostat to 20 degree celsius...Try this,I hope this works out...

Heater fan blowing intermittently or not at all

Most likely it does, if you can hit the motor and it will run. I can't say for sure but you might want to chk. to see if you got a heater blower motor resister. There located (if its got one) around the heater motor and it controls blower speeds, might be worth checking out.
