Glow plug setups usually have a relay to handle the high current required to power the glow plugs. This relay could be faulty, preventing operation. It may be possible to swap a relay from another circuit to isolate the problem.

Glow plug light doesn't come on my 99 f250

when the light is not on ,there is no circuit for the glo-plugs and so the cylinders are not heating up. This could be a faulty relay that brings in the glo-plugs , loose wires to the relay. The light will be on when there is a circuit though the relay

Glow plugs do not work . has 12 volts at the controller on a 06 duramax

trace the wire back from the glo-plugs and you will come to the relay. Remove the glo-plugs and using short jump leads test across the battery terminals . Place one lead on the wire terminal and the body of the glo-plug on the negative terminal. If good it will heat up immediately . If burnt you will see it.
