I'm getting ready to change the head gaskets on my 2003 chevy malibu. I have water in my motor where everything looks like a creamy milk shake.

I would think it would be better after you change the head gasket and drain the old oil from the system. Then check the new oil and depending of how much water you are seeing in the new oil you may want to flush the engine. I suspect it will not be necessary because the time it takes to change the head gasket will also allow for the excess water to drain to the oil pan.

I put a catalyic converter and a downstream o2 semsor on my 2002 chevy malibu a year later i get the p0420 code what is going on

Your converter may be failing again, and this can be caused by coolant leaking into combution chamber (bad head gasket), worn engine parts such as rings, or using certain additives in the fuel.

2001 Chevy Malibu have had intake manifold gasket replaced twice since buying car in 2002. I drove it to work fine, coming home( only 5 miles away) steam coming out from the hood. The resevoir (coolant)...

Hi and welcome to FixYa!

It's definitely a damaged head gasket. If the head gasket is damaged you'll have an oil and water mixture that's milky in appearance. You will need to have it replaced and be sure that you check if the head itself has cracks. If it has, a machine shop will be helpful.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

How i can change head gasket on chevy malibu 2002

Description below, but What is important is headgasket failure IS NOT the fault of the gasket, even though that is where the condition manifests...SOMETHING in steel is wrong, and at minimum warped and at worst: cracked. if you just change the gasket, you will fail again soon. Resurface the head you will have a reliable repair(prefer both because of slight compression change via mill cut of the head). this is the time to look at the valves, seats, guide looseness and valve seals.

So, the highlights of the project: you drain the coolant, remove all obstructing brackets (draw a map to get them back, or take lots of pics).

Then you pull the intake, valve cover(s), push rods and rockers, as needed, disconnect the exhaust manifold, or sometimes just the pipe, unbolt it and pull it off. there are more details, but all stuff needs to be disconnected in a manner that you can get it all back the exact same....

What is important

My overflow reservoir bursts on my 2002 Chevy Malibu

yes it could be and it is.
combustion pressure is getting in to the cooling chamber and pressure from that is bursting the over flow bottle.that is the only thing that can be putting that kind of pressure into the system.

2002 Chevy Malibu - Oil in Coolant Tank

Sounds like your head gasket has a leak. I would also check your dip stick. If there is coolant mixed with the oil also. Then it is your head gasket.
