If it will not crank you would need to check for voltage at the starter and from there to the key switch. If it will crank but not start, you would need to check fuel pressure and for spark at the plugs to proceed.
Have you checked coil/coils. Some Suzuki have two coils. When it is on way out it will start itermittenly until finally it won't start at all. Can go on for sometime doing this. I believe coil relays power to starter. Coil fault often attributed to starter in correctly. Hope this helps.
Are you in gear and not in neutral? Could be your starter is dead, test your battery with a Multimeter and ensure that you're reading at least 12.5 volts.
If you're reading 12.5 or less 12.3 then your battery is in fact dead.
You could have a blown starter relay, fuze or a low battery causing a ticking sound. Your starter may have shorted out and the ticking you hear could be the starter solenoid.
sounds like a bad starter, sometimes if you tap the starter with a hammer it will free up the bendix and it will work again, but I would only say that is a temporary solution and would recomend replacing the starter.
IF YOU COULD GET TO STARTER TRY TAPPING ON THE CASING WITH A HAMMER TO JOGGLE THE STARTER. SOMETIMES THIS MIGHT WORK TO BREAK THE ICE FREE OR GET THE ARMATURE TO FREE UP
possible open starter motor...with 12 v test lamp, check for 12 v signal to starter solenoid small wire when turning the key.If it lights your starter is open. This is providing your battery is good and charged and the cable is secure to big starter solenoid lug
