I had a new alternator fitted to my daughters wee corolla. Now the pressure guage doesn't work. I'm sure its just a dropped wire but I cant find the oil sensor on the engine block. Help

I have 96 vw jetta gl 5speed... just got a month ago. needs muffler & wipers dont work. appears fine otherwise UNTIL I go above 45 (2200 rpms) then the oil light flashes and there's a horrible...

That would be the high speed oil pressure sensor telling you there is a problem with your oil pressure.Your computer is reading insufficient oil pressure to maintain engine integrity above 2000RPM.
There are 2 oil sending units mounted on top of the oil filter housing. I don't have wiring for your year so I can't tell you for sure, but on my 1992 they are brown ( low pressure) and white (high pressure). Check the wiring carefully for cracks or bare spots in the insulation and fix any you find. Also make sure the wiring is good at the plug-ins. VW wiring won't tolerate cracks and often will break right where it meets the plug-in. Also if you have recently moved these wires you may have plugged them in wrong. I would most definately get the pressure checked with a mechanical oil pressure guage to be sure of the pressure. If it's good, 29 PSI at 2000 RPM then I would be looking at a bad sending unit. Hope this helps.

My 2000 expedition oil pressure needle drops while driving

If the engine is heating up then you need to check the condition of the engine , check the oil , if there is level drop in the sump or if the oil is old and gone too soggy. If so replace with new filter.
However is the engine seems trim and working fine then the oil pressure guage needs a check. Test with an alternative before confirmation or else the oil pump is a suspect at higher temperatures.

How do I replace the altinator on a 1993 toyota corolla?

The procedure to replace alternator is as follows:-- 1) Determine which alternator your Toyota Corolla needs. Be sure the new alternator is compatible with your Corolla's engine.2) Disconnect the negative battery cable with a socket wrench. Remove the gravel shield if you need to access the alternator from under the car. Remove the electrical connector and unfasten the retaining nut on the alternator terminal with a socket wrench. This allows you to remove the battery terminal wire.
3)
Remove the drive belt. Unfasten the two mounting bolts on the alternator with a socket wrench and take the alternator off the vehicle.
4)
Install the new alternator assembly. Use a torque wrench to tighten the smaller mounting bolt to 18 foot-lb. and the larger one to 40 foot-lb.
5)
Connect the electrical harness and battery terminal wire to the alternator and fasten the retaining nut to the alternator terminal with a socket wrench.

Freon charge needed

Go to any autoparts store or walmart, thats the cheapest, and buy a can of 134a refridgerant. Make sure it is one with a hose and guage on it. The A/C fitting is under the hood on the passenger side of the car. There is two aluminum tubes running from the cab to the front. One of them has a round cylinder shaped canister on it. That is the low pressure side. There is a plastic cap screwed on it, remove that cap. Make sure there isn't any trash in the fitting on it. Then connect the fitting from the hose on the can and couple it to the fitting. The guage will tell you how much pressure is in it.
Then start your car, turn the a/c on high. And see what the guage says. It has a color code on it. If it is low, add some until it is about in the center of safe zone. Soon as it gets into the safe zone the compressor should kick on. If it don't, Then don't add any more and get too much pressure. Unplug the wire on the canister and stick a jumper wire in the end of the plug and see if that makes it come on. If it does then the low pressure switch is bad. You will have to have it replaced. Or use it with the jumper wire. But you would have to keep checking the pressure every cpl wks or so. Or when air isnt as cold. If you dont then it will burn up your compressor. That would be expensive.

My 1995 Jeep Wrangler has a problem with the guages. All of them are not working properly. The fuel only goes to 1/2 but will drop pass that. The oil pressure goes all the way to 80+ I put a manual guage in...

I would check the output of you alternator first of all. When you turn everything on you should see around 14 volts instead of the 12 volts. There is probably a problem with the alternator or a wiring issue.

I have a 1985 Cheverolet pick-up. I have a cluster of under dash guages that I installed about ten years ago. Last week I replaced them with new ones. After doing so, My rea tail lights will not cut...

Sir,
It's probably the brake lights that are staying on, check again, if the brake lights are staying on the brake light switch needs to be replaced. The reason I believe it's the brake lights is that they will turn on even with the key off so make sure which lights are staying on.

Petrol light reading empty when full.

you can check to see if your guage is getting electricity to it with a test light first and foremost, and then use a wire to directly give it electricity without it being connected to the harness itself and see if it moves too, if it moves with giving it electricity then it's not the guage itself... then check the wires at the tank to see if the harness is getting electricity there. if it is and the guage isn't moving when you wiggle the harness, drop the tank and replace the assembly as a unit that goes inside the tank that has the float attached that makes the guage work.
