Question about 1991 Toyota Camry

1 Answer

I have three problems- I bought this car used. I was told that the blower motor for the ac/heater may be out. It definitely is. I discovered that it could either be a resistor or the blower motor itself. At least that is what the guy at Auto Zone told me trying to sell me a blower motor. Other issue is that the windshield wiper reservoir is full but when I push the button for the fluid to release, it does not make a noise and nothing comes out. I assume it is a motor of some sort as well. Third problem is that when I went to replace the fuse for the radio, i discovered when I turn the car off the radio stays on even when I actually turn the sound off. Sounds like a short. The last problem I really am not worried too much about. but as winter is coming, I would however, like to find a solution for the first two problems. jrclark

Check the fuse or the circuit breaker.?Remove wires at the blower motor. One will be the ground wire, black,in color?? the other will be the hot.If there is only one then the motor is grounded by its mounting. Check wiring diagram.for colors or use an inline fuse 20 amps. in the power test lead Run a ground wire to the other. A premade set of test leads are very helpful. This will test the motor. The fuse may blow if the leads are reversed or the motor is shorted,or draws too much current. If motor tests ok,repair the open.Test the switch and the high speed relay, then the resistor packl All with finction of the blower switch. No slow speeds, bad resistor pack or switch, check resistor(visually),no high speed with switch?Bad highspeed relay. A wiring diagram will be of help,in checking points in the circuit where the color code is used.Without a diagram is a guessing game and takes more time.

Where is this resistor located? I've tested my blower and it is fine. Definitely a resistor problem for me, but I don't know where it is

Heat/ac fan only blows on high

Check the heater control switch,,,,,and the number of wires at the heater motor....Some motors have more than one winding...in which case there will be three or more wires going into motor..there can be burnout in those windings and will require a new motor....check the plug which attaches to the motor....can be bad connection...or at the switch.....but if there is only two wires....then the heater switch uses resistors to slow down the different speeds...and direct connection for high speed....and the problem is definitely the switch...

2003 Suburban heater fan will not working.

three things left to check,
using test light see if you have power at motor with key and switch on,if you do replace motor,if not locate blower motor resistor it will be close to motor, check for power going in,last is the heater control assembly

1997 TBird-AC fan stopped working

Are you sure it isn't in the switch itself? I believe the fan is under the hook on this car but I don't have my books here to know for sure. If you disconnect the plug to your heater motor and insert a test light inside of the plug that goes to the motor you could see if you have power there with the ignition switch on and heater blower fan switch on. The motor is about $30. to $50. but I definitely would test the motor before buying another one.

I have a 2005 chevy silverado heater/ac fan stopped working . Checked fuses all were good .Removed fan and it works ,whats next?

Treed55508,

Try this solution. I have had the same issue three times. A Chevy tech told me that if it keeps doing it, to replace the blower motor, as it seems to be a chronic problem with the blower having to much resistance and thus burning out the resistors. I suspect that you probably had lost one speed first and then more. It has happened both ways with me, once the entire thing went out at once and then the other times it goes one speed at a time.

2004 Chevrolet Silverado Heater/AC Blower on without Ignition ON

there is no relay for the heater fan it's a 15 amp fuse and is on the accessories circuit. the reostat is responsible for all 3 speeds .with the key off there should be no voltage to the blower motor whether the fans speed fan switch is on or off. the fuse will be located in the fuse paneleither on the drivers left side in the dash or underneath the dash in the fuse block. you have a short in the harness that is under the dash and most likely it's a bad plug on the harness. your going to have to do some searching but that's where the problem short is... please rate
