Make sure you dont have 2 gaskets on the oil filter, sometimes the old gasket sticks to the engine and then you place then new filter on without noticing

If it is leaking at the oil filter the previous rubber gasket may have stuck to the block. When the new oil filter was installed then the gasket was doubled and will leak.

What could be cause of oil leaks around filter, all of the expected things to check have been done. New filter, checked to make sure no double gasket etc. and still leaking. Could it be comign from an

If at filter it could be only what comes out (oil drip) when changing oil filter. If filter is good then use oil filter tighter tool to tighten the filter snugger. Make sure its not the oil bolt that is leaking, which could leave that pesky oil spots. Tighten it or replace oil bolt with new one.

Common problem on a car of this age. Easily replaced component. I cannot tell you how easily because you did not mention your car model. If you have a three series, it is a thumb-sized sensor that connects to the front of the valve cover, right next to the oil filter holder. all you need to do is loosen the top of the oil line for the VANOS in order to access the screw that holds the cam position sensor in place. You should replace the soft washers at the top of the oil line so you don't develop a leak there. That oil line itself is a common leak point, so you might want to look at it before you buy the sensor. Now would be a good time to replace both parts if the oil line is leaking.

Oil pump?

Your filter is leaking, check it out.

Oil filter leaking i did got new oil filter but still leaking

Hi

Are you sure its the oil filter? it could be the oil filter gasket, some models/ not all vw have a second gasket seperate from the oil filter itsself, the other thing is the oil could be leaking from the top of the engine but then dripping off the filter making you think that, that is the cause.

Is the oil filter to the rear of the engine or up front? what model, year and engine size?
Regards
Dan

Instructions for changing oil in 2000 jetta and a place where i can find a free owners manual

changing oil can be real fun thats one the things i look over before i buy a car. If the guy made the car so hard to work on why would i want own this car. Buy fram filters thats painted crusty on the bottom so you can hand tighten them. Always after you take off the old filter to look for see if the gasket came of the old filter. Dobble gasket mean big leak and hurting your car. Put some oil on the new filter gasket to get a good seal And slowly hand screw the filter you dont want to cross thread the holder the filter. i can tighten my filter so tight you dont need the wrench other take it off becuse if you use the wrench you could hurt the filter
Look up your car find the correct filter wrench to take off the old one.
I find best just buy a jack and jack stands if you cant see the filter and drain plug.
Just buy a Hanes book they help you find ever thing on your cars at auto zone ore one the other stores with your year make and model
And a handy tip i learned about oil and paint to get off your hands use corn oil and rag works great get off paint and old oil on your hands.
it non toxic and then wash with normal soap

Oil leak

If it's leaking from the oil filter spacer.( the 2 inch metal ring that attaches to your block, and has two rubber hoses coming out of it, and your oil filter attaches to) There is an o-ring between the spacer and the block. Take off your oil filter, remove the oil filter stud with 1 3/16" socket( or metric equivalent) and the spacer will come off. I found all the auto parts stores around me said that the o-ring was a dealer item. I bought a FRAM PH3387A oil filter and removed the o-ring on that. It fit perfectly, snug down your oil filter stud to specs, then install your oil filter. Double check that the oil filter is not double gasketed, and your are fixed!
