Question about 2006 Mitsubishi Galant

1 Answer

I've got a 2003 Mitsubishi Galant. My brake indicator comes on when it's cool or wet out, leading me to believe it's a sensor problem. I had my rear brakes rebuilt in April and the front brake pads still have about 50% left. My fluid has been checked and is ok. How involved is it to check the sensor?

How to take rear drums off 2003 mitsubishi galant

Hello, there are two ways to get the drums off. One way is to use a brake spool, behind the drum is a small little opening (possible covered with a rubber tab just remove that). Inseart the brake spool into the the opening and rotate the star wheel till the brakes are backed off the drum. Second choice is use a hammer, very carefully tap around the drum until you can pull it off.

Cooling Fan not coming on 2002 Mitsubishi Galant

Check the fan itself for free turning--if it grinds or is hard to turn, replace the fan motor. The engine heat sensor reports temperature to the computer which turns on the relay and it turns on the fan motor. If you have A/C, turn it on--that should force the fan on all the time the car is running. If that works, then replace the sensor. If you don't have A/C, take a chance on the sensor--it's not too expensive. Wrap the threads with several turns of teflon tape when installing and don't over-tighten.

Galant rear wheel hub

remove your rear wheel then remove the brake assembly. there are 4 bolts that hold the hub to the rear axel with anti lock brakes you will have a wire to remove from the hub. it may tak a large hammer and chisel to remove the hub. but it will come off. then reinstall (if there is any shims behind the hub they must be put back in in the same directions (these are alignment shims) some have some dont. tighten bolts and test drive the ca 5 miles or so. then retighten the lug bolts. and then again after 100 miles.
hope this helps 99116a8.jpg
