Leaking from engine

My 1990 Ford Fairmont Ghia is leaking water at an amazing rate. I fill up the water and within 2 minutes of driving, the warning light comes up and all the water has drained out. Had a look last night (in the dark) and it looks like it's actually coming from the engine - might be too broad of a questions, but any ideas what would cause this? Yes, I am one of those simple girls who doesn't know too much but don't want to get ripped off when I take it in to get repaired. Is there anything I can add to the water for now that may seal any leaks. Besides this, car runs fine - not missing or playing up in any other way. I'll check where it's leaking again today - anything else I should look out for. Please excuse my simpleness.

You might have just over looked at it..try to check the radiator hoses,,because if it leaks from the engine you sholud have flooded your engine and it may not start if it had water in it

I have a 1994 ford fairmont ghia 4 litre when i start the car one of the injectors is constantly leaking fuel and cant get over 60- 80 kms is that the cause that i have no power when i put my foot down?

That is your problem. Because it is leaking, you don't have the right compression in the engine. You won't have power until it is fixed properly. Because of this, your igntion system is all out of wack. Everything has to mix perfect for it to run right my friend. Best of luck to you.

My 1990 toyota corolla is getting hot really fast - i fill radiator up and after 5-10 min the water has evaporated - it appears to be leaking somewhere around the right side of engine (facing front of car)...

Well there are only 3 things that could have gone wrong.

1. Radiator Leak - this means the radiator has developed a hole with via corrosion of the metal parts of simply integrity failure of the plastic parts of the radiator.
2. Hose leak - this could be a hole in 1 of 2 hoses that connects the engine to the radiator. Or it can also be a leak where the hose connects to the radiator (clamp Failure).
3. Water Pump breakdown - this is where the gasket in the water pump has failed and is leaking out the water rather than pumping it.

All the problems above has different ways of diagnosing. but we can probably narrow it down.

1. if the leak is near the radiator then it could be a hose connection, hose breakage or Radiator hole.

2. if the leak is nearer the engine then check the other end of the hose and if its not there then it could only be the water pump is leaking. You can check this if there are water stains on the water pump. The water pump on a 1990 corolla is mechanical turned also by a fan belt. Look for a pulley that has a hose connected to the radiator and that would be the water pump.

I have a 1996 Honda civic, it spits out water at the radiator after running for 10 minutes. What can I do?

If the radiator is leaking, put a bottle of radiator stop leak in it,fill it up the rest of the way with water, tighten cap, and run in idle for 15 to 30 minutes. If the leak is severe or one bottle doesn't work, use two bottles of stop leak and run for 35 minutes.

If it's the radiator cap that's leaking, replace the cap with a new one. Also check to make sure there are no loose cooling hoses.

Safety first: Use extreme caution to never remove the radiator cap when the engine is hot, severe burns from escaping hot water could result.
