Question about Chrysler Concorde

1 Answer

My 2000 Chrysler Concorde has an electrical problem: When you turn it on, the windows don't open, the A/C doesn't work and the "air bag" light comes on on the dash. Could this just be a fuse problem and, if so, where are the fuses in the engine? Could this be an electrical wiring problem that controls those three things? And, if so, how can a get a wiring schematics? It is too hot here in Florida to ride with no A/C and the windows up! Thank you so much, Judy

I'm sure it was helpful although I don't understand much
about cars. My son got it working again, so we know
it's electrical. But we can't get it worked on if it's okay
when we take it in, he says.

Check the fuses for the respective circuits.

The air bag light goes on when the module or air bag assembly needs to be replaced, or wiring to the sensors is bad or the sensors in the bumper are bad.

Fuses are located under the dash or under the hood.

I understand that it's too hot in FL to run around with the windows up and the A/C broken.

Actually, if the fuse associated with the air bag was bad, then it wouldn't light up.

To get schematics, try, which is based on Chilton manuals, but you can download the information if you pay them a fee.

Power Distribution Center (PDC) All of the electrical current distributed throughout this vehicle is directed through the standard equipment Power Distribution Center (PDC). The molded plastic PDC housing is located in the left front corner of the engine compartment, just in front of the coolant reservoir bottle. The PDC housing has a molded plastic cover. The PDC cover is easily removed for service access and has a convenient fuse and relay layout label affixed to the inside surface of the cover to ensure proper component identification. The PDC housing is secured in the engine compartment by one screw to the rear of the PDC and two clips on the front side. A small molded plastic protective cover on the front right side of the engine compartment is unsnapped to access the battery/generator cable input connection studs. All of the PDC outputs are through the integral engine compartment wire harness, which exits from the front of the PDC housing.

Windows, air bag, blower motor and turn signals stop working until you hit the steering wheel or adjust the tilt

Sounds like the wires are broken in the steering coulmn. They can cause problems on other circuits because they don't supply voltage to everything as needed. Care should be taken working on this as air bag wiring also goes up that coulmn. ( Its bright yellow harness)

Car horn doesn't work, airbag light on, but car alarm works

The problem is likely with the clockspring in the steering column. The wiring for the horn button and the driver's air bag go through the clockspring. If you want to fix it yourself, I can probably find the procedure for you, but this is really a job for a professional auto electrician.

My 2000 Concorde turn signals don't work

Do your flashers work? If not it may be the flasher unit is bad. It is located under the dash on the drivers side on or near the fuse box. If the flashers work you may have a problem with the turn signal lever or the wiring connected to it.

99 Chrysler Concorde electrical problem

probably a relay. relays control switching of power from one compound circuit to another. because you have multiple circuits that are not working, this sounds likely. get a wiring schematic and find out which relay controls that system, then try replacing it.

94 Concorde electrical

I have a similar problem with my 94 concorde... and was advised the on board computer was in need of replacement. Further research led to pulling the computer and cleaning the ground connection to the chassis. It will sometimes leak under the computer and corrode, and compromise the ground, which in turn will cause faulty "code" readings and the engine control light to come on.
