Question about 2004 GMC Envoy
Try lowering the rear window with the key and opening the tailgate. After you finally get it open, spray all moving parts, both sides with a lubricant / cleaner such as WD-40 then lubricate with 3 in 1 oil. Not sure what worked for us but the tailgate opens both ways now and that is what we did.
