Question about Ford Contour
Check the transmission motor mounts.If the motor mounts are weak then it will cause the car to "bang" into gear when it gets overheat.
Also get the transmission fluid and filter checked.If its low then get the fluid changed.If filter is old get it replaced too.It will take a day or two to get the flow.The bang noise will get reduced by this.Get all this parts first checked and confirmed before any kind of replacement.
