Hi, if this is a manual car, with clutch, then your clutch plate is worn and needs replacing, if it is an automatic, locate the dip stick for the fluid, while the motor is running, check fluid level, if it is not showing on dip stick you need to fill it, make sure you fill it with the motor idling not off, or you will not put enough fluid into the transmission for it to work...hope this helps good luck

I was driving my 2000 ford taurus when I came to a complete stop but when I went hit the accelerator the gas would not go.So I turn the car off and it would not start in park but it did start in neutral....

This Sounds Like The Linkage On The Gear Box Has Changed ,The Lever Is Not Reaching The Correct Position When it Is moved to park ,Drive, Etc.
Check The Cable ,Linkages From The Change Lever To The Gear Box

Car wont accelerate in any gear?? No warning signs or noise, just stopped mid drive?

sounds to me like your throttle position sensor needs replacing, these are plentiful at a breakers yard & will fit in your pocket nicely, generally just a couple of screws to undo & a wire harness to undo, replacement is a reversal of removal, also while you are in that area it may pay to grab a can of carb cleaner & clean your air intake, not forgetting both sides of the butterfly valve, just liberally spray it in the intake & the carbon deposits will be pushed thru the cars exhaust system.

Hi i have a 96 Taurus GL with a Transmission that does not work i can put it through all gears and wont move unless you rev it up hi it well move slowly but it well move back words if you rev it a little....

Have you checked the level of the transmission oil ? The level does not have to be down much to encounter the type pf problem you are having. With the oil warm and the engine idling in neutral, the Transmission dipstick should show the level between the low and full marks.

It was hard to get into gear and would grind some if you tried to shift fast, it had since got stuck in 4th gear and wont shift at all. it starts and drives in 4th, if you wana call that driving. i dont...

probably locked the gears inside the transmission. grab a pair of vise-grips and grab the connecting rod and try to move it that way and see if you get any movement.

My car wont move out of park and the braks lights arent working.

my ford taurus did this to me too.... your car wont move out of park because it might be the neutral safety switch because your brake light connector piece might have come undone...
now first off the brakes (my switch was above my brake pedal) and just make sure its clipped in and then your neutral safety switch should go of and you can put it into gear.
if you cant find the brake thing to see if its unplugged just turn your key slightly on before all your dash lights come on and put the car into neutral and then start your car and you can put it into gear.

Ford taurus 1995 will not move when started

i have a 2001 ford taurus and it did the same thing a while back, call the dealer and ask them for the sensor that is behind the brake pedal. It is not the transmission .. cost less that 25 bucks to fix and takes about 20 min
