In order to fix this problem the entire cluster must be removed and send out for repair, this is a VERY common problem, the cost for this about $175

1996 honda accord odometer not working the speedometer works but the odometer doesn't also the trip meter doesnt work either just all of a sudden stopped working

Were you able to fix your problem? I'm having the same issue with my car, where the Odometer intermittently jumps from 0-48. At times when I start driving the engine stalls and the Odometer starts to act up. The Egine Light is always on. I would appreciate any help.

Speedometer, odometer not working at the same time the CD player

Check the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS), it is located on the transmission at the rear of the engine. The first to look for is a faulty connection to this sensor, sometimes cleaning the connector and putting it back solves the problem. If this does not solve this issue you might ask your mechanic to replace it, shouldn't be too expensive as is a common part to fail.

I am so sad, my 1988 240DL odometer just stopped working (along with the trip). It stopped somewhere near the 263,000 mile mark, and i'm sad cause i want to see how many miles it will have when it finally...

Unfortunately, there is no fix for your current odometer. Your car will continue to rack up miles, but there is no way to tell (sometimes you can with a digital odometer). What I can suggest is getting a new.used gauge cluster and track your mileage from there.

*Note..sometimes the pin (s) used on these can go and cause this can be repairable if you have the time, patience and money...on the downside, if you've driven the car since it broke, no way on getting those miles added on...the upside..a cheaper alternative is replacement (check ebay or

My Volvo 94 850 odometer stop working, I bought

There are actually two gears that you need to replace, a large one and then smaller one that rides inside it. You can purchase them both at These can also sometimes affect the operation of your speedometer. Do you by chance have an ABS and TRACS light on? If so the speedometer issue may be related to your ABS controller.

Try to check the speed sensor because if there is a problem with the speed sensor you will encounter this issue.

Short in the odometer

Check on line for information on how to repair loose solder connections in cluster. I read that the solder connections come undone and that is why the odometer works intermitantly.

Dash cluster

Ok, the issue is your speed sensor. You speedometer and odometer are controlled by a sensor mounted on your transmission. For your vehicle, it's a inexpensive fix; probablly $30.00 or less for the new sensor. Sometimes the old sensor can be a pain to remove, and I've personally had to get creative to get them out. Hopefully yours won't be that bad.

It's held in place by 1 bolt, and has a wire clip attached.

Once you get the old sensor out, make sure you get the new one fully inserted and seated, and that should resolve your issue.

I hope this helps you, and I wish you luck on your repair.
