Check your oil for signs of water, it will look cloudy and maybe if like a white butter looking. It is really easy to blow a head gasket on aluminum engines. I bet this is what happened to your engine.

After a long trip when engine gets hot, it wont start until it cools off

make sure you have 50/50 coolant and water.i would replace thermostat and radiator pressure cap.replace air filter make sure engine getting fresh air.check radiator cores and front grille from debris blocking off airflow through grille to radiator.if problem continue flush out coolant system radiator engine block and heater core.water going bad cause over heat problems also.

My escort overheated so added water then i tried to start the car but it wont start, its cranks but it wont start

need add add antifreeze half antifreeze and water to raise coolant boiling point. replace thermostat and radiator pressure cap.wait until engine cool then try starting it up.depends on how long you drove car when engine over heated.if you turn off engine soon as it over heated no harm done.if you kept on driving and engine die of lack of cooling, and car wont crank you could have blown head gasket warped or cracked cylinder head.

Car wont start in cold idles funny for a moment, then is fine .The heat dont act right gets hot going down the road cools off when sitting at idle.

i hate to be the bearer of bad news but it sounds like a head gasket failure.usually occurs in cyl 2 ond or 3 in these engines (1.8L).car sits and engine cools coolant leaks into cylinder and when started runs with amiss until coolant burns out of cylinder and conversely air gets in cooling system, system gets low and you have poor heat esp at idle.have your mechanic confirm but these engines are becoming notorious for this.

94 taurus wont start after 30 minutes of running until engine cools off

the taurus uses a "thin film" ignition module located on the side of the distributor where it touches the distributor there is a film of heat transfer paste to keep the module cool this paste dries out and, the module heats up and, you have a "no start" until the module cools
the paste is availlible from Ford or, radio shack

91 tempo heats up and quits wont start until engine has cooled

I had the same problem with f-150. the timing chain would stretch when it heated up and cause it to quit and naturally it wouldnt start until the chain cooled down and tightened back up.

Heat in my 94 Toyota Tercel has a problem and so does the ignition.

warm your car up to temperture. Grab the upper rediator hose. Is it warm or cool. If its cool your thermosat is stuck closed and thats why you have no heat. If that works fine I would look at your heater core next.
