Question about 2001 Ford Windstar

1 Answer

1962 Ford Falcon. While driving it quits just like turning off the key. No warning. Sometimes if you get the choke just right is recovers but normally dies. Restarts and then goes maybe a mile or maybe 10 feet and does it again. New fuel sending unit, new fuel filter, new points, new condenser, new rotor button, new coil, new distributor cap, new plugs and wires. With multimeter connected I get around 6.5volts on the primary circuit with key on. Checked all wires for breaks or bad insulation. Even tried wooden clothes pins on the fuel lines to prevent vapor lock. It quit on me this morning leaving my driveway. Engine wasn't even completely warmed up. Normally only does it once it warms up good. Help.

Make sure the carb is well bolted down. It was a common problem on these cars for the carbs to shake loose. Do not overtighten. 40 ft.lbs. should be enough. Also make sure your vacuum pull off is working & not losing vacuum. Tighten scews holding the carb together also. Dont overtorque these screws. Also any other vacuum lines that are old need changing. Good luck!

I have a ford falcon 2002 xr6 ute with vct tickford motorist just stoped while driving gave a miss fire I have replaced crank sensor module coil fuel pump fuel filter still wont run running very ruf

On my falcon the same thing happened changed dizzy, coil even got new spark plugs what it turned out to be was auxiliary shaft that turns the dizzy or the dizzy module if you got coil packs. You can't see down the dizzy hole because its under the inlet manifold so take photo with your phone and you might see little bits of metal The auxiliary shaft teeth on the dizzy end where worn out and folding over so it can't give the proper spark at right time so went to wreckers 20 bucks for another. ford says it can't happen but I know quite a few engines with same problem

I have a 1962 ford falcon. The hose, from what i

Aren't there hose clamps on the two hoses at the firewall? That hose should come off right there-one is connected to the heater core inlet inside the heater case, the other hose is connected to the heater core outlet tube. While you are at it, replace both hoses. Heater hoses are standard sizes, like only two sizes, larger is 3/4 " diameter. Take an old piece of your hose to parts store for replacement. They have rolls of heater hoses, can cut you off just what you need for low price.
If the hose clamps are not on the hoses at firewall, they must be accessed from under the dash, but should be easily accessible.
Really, a 1962 falcon? 50 years old and still going? That was the year I graduated high school, driving a 1957 Dodge two door black hardtop, yes, the big finned clown car-lol.

BA Falcon 'door open' light is on, can't lock

Hi I have the same problem on my BA XT Falcon
Strangely it only happens after it's rained on my car (usually overnight) I then notice that the drivers lock is up and will not lock again until a nice sunny day comes and I leave all doors wide open for hours and hours!! Then all of a sudden once closing all doors normally the little dash door light turns off, and I can again lock the doors
?
Since it rained all last night here, guess what? It happened again!
So I've checked everywhere and cleaned and you name it, but nothing, I'm positive that when a warm sunny day comes again though, all will be ok.
Most annoying issue ever.
Where is this tiny bit of water that's causing this?
And which door?? Can I just disconnect one door at a time? I don't know it's driving me crazy!!!!

Ford falcon locks

Dude, the same thing happened with my EL falcon. It turned out to be the key fob! The buttons were sometimes sticking and all of a sudden it would re-lock. Ususally it would unlock then immediately relock. Leaving no time to get into the the car. Sometimes we would be driving and the Alarm would go off without touching a thing. I ditched the Key Fob and all was well again.
I hope this helps
