My 1998 Grand Caravan has the service engine soon on. It was scanned and says that it recognized a return signal error. The probable causes are: Cacuun hose off, cracked or pressure blocked Engine mechanical timing condition Throttle body intake tube loose, off, or cracked barometer/MAP defective VAF MAF dirty or defective

I want to know if all the possible causes related to the codes found during scanning are related only with air.

Find out where it is located, see all vacccum hose at your intake manifold, check the throttle body for gasket or loossen bolts, check map sensor for loosing of o-ring, this is all you must see at thee intake manifold, also the vaccum hose of hydraulic brake booster

An easy way to find vacuum leaks it to take starting fluid and lightly spray around your vacuum lines all over the engine. If the engine revs up then you will be able to find your vacuum leak. The problem is the engine is getting too much air from somewhere. You just need to locate where it is getting extra air. The starting fluid will find it for you.

Yes all of the codes have something to do with an air or vacuum leak. The cracked barometer could be causing the computer to think that it is an air leak. That is the only one that would not be an air leak. But would cause the computer to think that there is an air leak. So I guess what I am trying to say is. If the barometer is functioning properly which it more than likely is, or it would have a code for the barometer only. Then it is an air leak. When it has this many possible causes then the computer can't figure out where the air is coming from and gives a soft fault. A hard fault would be like MAF sensor bad, or Barometer bad. Something like that.

Stop at an autozone, napa, etc parts store and have them scan for codes to point you in the right direction. They will scan it for free, and advise of most common reason and part required to fix it. If not sure after scan, get back to me/us for advice and post the codes they told you were present.

I have a 2011 dodge caliber and it isz throw a c0700 code could u tell me what this is

P0700 DODGE - Transaxle Control System Malfunction

Symptoms - Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
- Driveability problems
- Transaxle shifting problems

Possible causes - Shorted or open circuit within transmission control module (TCM)
- Failure of transaxle control module

Tech notes Since the P0700 is just and informative code, check the TCM for more codes to resolve the problem.

P0700 DODGE Description The transaxle Control Module (TCM) monitors the malfunction of sensors and actuators relating to transaxle control. When the TCM detects a malfunction with the control, a signal is send to the Engine Control Module (ECM) to trigger the Engine Light or Service Engine Soon light. The ECM stores the P0700 code and it means the TCM detected a malfunction with the transaxle controls.
CLEAR THE CODES AND SEE IF IT RESETS. MOST LIKELY NOT A PROBLEM

I just bought a 2006 dodge grand caravan with 66,000 miles on it and the check-engine light came on!!! It seems to still drive fine but I am not sure what this is caused from!!!

Take it to Advance Auto Parts, or Auto Zone, they will scan your computer for free to get the code and tell you what it means. May just be a sensor, or the gas cap isn't tight (emissions) may or may not be serious. Thanks.

Does the 06 grand caravan have specific time's such as milage when the check engine light will come on?

The service soon light may come on at specific intervals indicating an oil change should be preformed or another preventive maintenance issue, but the check engine light should only come on if there is an issue with the car. This could be nothing major also, but you should be able to go to any auto parts store and they can "scan your codes" and tell you exactly what is wrong with the vehicle. Good Luck!

Service engine soon nissan sentra 1998

HI. This will require you to have the engine CPU scanned for trouble code's. This can only be administered with the assistance of a diagnostic computer scan tool. You can purchase this tool, at your local auto parts store, or you can just have the scan ran at your local auto zone parts store, free of charge. Once the diagnostic scan is administered, you will be able to isolate the issues that have caused the check engine light to illuminate.

This scan tool will display a print out code and the location of the issue, on the engine, as well. There are Many issues that will cause the engine light to illuminate, but the most common cause will be a failed monitoring sensor, or sensor harness failure(separated power wire, or ground).

Once you have the codes, kindly return to the site, and post them here. We will be able to assist with more accuracy, once the codes are posted.

Thanks..

Engine light is on grand caravan 3.3l 98

Hello smdmk.
There are many things on your vehicle that will turn on your check engine light (CEL).
These can range from anything from a loose fuel cap to a bad engine sensor.
On your Grand Caravan there are a couple hundred different possible codes.
Some will be relatively harmless to your vehicle but could be harmful to the environment. Others may be harmful to both.
The most common problem I see come into my repair facility is evaporative emission codes. This is a system that contains fuel vapors when filling your fuel tank and stores them to be burned by the engine under certain driving conditions.
As a tech I need to know what the code is that is stored in your vehicles computer before I can guide you to your specific issue repair.
If you live in the USA, Autozone will scan your vehicle and retrieve the code for free.
Get it scanned and we will be able to assist you to a fix.
Hope this helps you along towards a successful repair.

Service Engine Soon

wandeeful: what has occurred, is something within the powertrain management system had malfunctioned. It may had occurred even for a brief moment. There will be a code stored in the computer which will tell what had tripped the light.
Once the scan is completed, then what need to be done will be known.
You can get the car scanned for free at
Auto Zone or "O" Reiley's
