Open the console and remove the connector from the switch. If it defaults on, you can put a shorting clip in the connector to make it default off. If you aren't sure how to do this, please reply.

The problem with permanently disconnecting the switch is that you will not have traction control in the snow, which can be helpful depending on where you live. An alternative solution is to relocate the switch to some place that doesn't interfere with the cup holder. But if the T/C has been costing you for repairs and you don't really need it where you live, I would make it dafault off. This should not affect your ABS system.

Try this first: Use the smallest screwdriver you have at the edge of the button holder to see if you can pry it up without scratching the console. If it will pry, pull it straight up and figure out how to pull the connector off. It probably has a little tab you have to depress to get it off. You can tape up the end if you want to make sure it doesn't short on anything. Then just drop the cable into the console and push the button back into the console to cover the hole.

If you cannot pry it up, you will have to remove the console or panel to access the connector. I don't have a manual for your car, but what I have read indicates the trim panel will come out without pulling the whole console. Either there are screws holding the trim plate or there are clips. In the case of clips, the panel should come up with gently prying. If neither of these works, please get back to me.

Sorry, one more thing before you drop that connector into the console. I cannot find that switch on the wiring diagram to verify the default condition. Therefore, I need you to test the default before letting go of that connector. With the connector off of the switch, start the car to see if the traction control is on or off. If it defaults off, then my previous instructions will work fine. But, if it defaults on, you will need to short the terminals before closing it up and dropping it into the console. You can use a paper clip or anything like that to push into both terminals to get them connected together. This should turn the TC off. Make sure your shorting wire will stay in and then wrap the connector with electrical tape. If the connector has more than 2 wires, please get back to me, as i will have to figure out how to wire it. Or else, if it only has 3 wires you can try shorting each pair until you get the TC to go off. Sorry if this is a little complicated, but I want you to have success.

Why do the traction conrol buttom keep popping up when i cut it off

Have someone look at the rear Emergency brakes. The traction control counts the tire revolutions on the rear wheels. Loose pieces of the rear emergency brakes interfere with the count. This will reoccur every time the car is restarted.

I have a 2000 Jaguar S type. The DSC System Fault. can someone explain what it is and what I need to do?

this is your dynamic stability control fault...or the postive traction module ...this buttom is located on your j-shifter console beside the sport buttom...When its working properly you can engage or disengage the traction control at the touch of a bottom. You need to have the code read to pinpoint the issue...The CAN or control area network is sending a fault code do to something malfunctioning...please take it to autozone and have them to read the code for you...Hope this helps..

What does it mean if transmission is locked have 2001 lincoln ls v8

Light next to cup holder? Advanced Traction Control. An option that Iam sorry I got ,and is pretty well useless, and that switch works backwards. Never know that reading the manual 50 times. Make sure it is not lit on dash or console and forget it. Part of the ABS system that makes things worse, rather than better. Don't get on a slippery surface with it on,or the rear brakes slam on and off and half the engine cylinders are killed and your stuck in the snow. Way to go Ford Engineers. Rather have a Toyota with a bad gas pedal.

HOw do you fix the slave cylinder on a 2004 gto?

On 2004-2006 GTOs, you must have a lift. Set the parking brake. Disconnect negative battery terminal. Remove one screw from the cup holder bezel. This screw is under the business card holder, in the radius of the change holder. The shift knob is held in place by a set screw, I believe it is a hex. Next, pull the cup holder bezel up from the rear, by the console lid. Disconnect the window switches and traction control switch. Now remove the bezel and put it in the passenger seat. Raise the vehicle and set the lift arms done on the locks. The exhaust system from the catalytic converters to the tips needs to be taken out. Next step is to remove
the three bolts from the drive shaft damper. Next, remove the three bolts attaching the damper to the pinion yoke. These bolts are E torx bolts, I believe E14. After that, remove the drive shaft support bearing. These are 13mm bolt heads. Next remove the drive shaft, the transmission yoke is a slip yoke. From there, disconnect the speed sensor connector, back up lamp switch connector, and the skip shift connector. Next, disconnect the master cylinder fluid line which is on the driver's side of the transmission. Get a telescoping jack under the transmission and take out four crossmember bolts. Believe the bolt heads are 15mm. Next, take out the six bolts that secure the transmission to the bellhousing. These bolts should also be 15mm, but could be 14mm. From there, pull back on the transmission and lower the jack. The slave cylinder is attached to the front of the transmission, these bolts are 10mm heads. Installation is reverse of removal! Have fun!
