How do i take the the steering wheel off 99 silverado 2500

Be sure to deactivate the air bag before working on the steering wheel. I just disconnect both battery connections and let it set 15 minutes. Insert a flat tip screwdriver into each slot on the back of the steering wheel and twist slightly to release air bag retaining clips.Don't do this while sitting in the drivers seat, the bag might go off! Pull the bag off, release the small assurance clip then the connector will pull out of the air bag. Set it in the bed, bag side up so the cover can't become a projectile if it goes off. Pull the horn connector out of the steering wheel. Back the large bolt out most of the way on the steering wheel puller . Bolt the puller to the wheel with 2 bolts and screw the large bolt back into the puller. I tap on the wheel as I screw it in.

1993 chevrolet silverado k1500 pickup blinker switch broken how do i get to it?

You'll have to pull the steering wheel(no airbags on a 93-lucky you).I believe you can just wiggle the horn button loose from the wheel-BE CAREFUL-the button's wire isn't very long. The wire's connector is a rotate-to remove type if I remember correctly. Then pull the wheel(a steering wheel puller might be needed, about 25 bucks at Sears)The hardest part is going to be snaking the old switch's harness out,and the new one in.

How to remove the power steering pully on a 2003 silverado 3500 hd

You may need a special removal tool, Snap-On and others sell them. There is a groove on the front of the pulley, the tool hooks on that and pulls it off the power steering pump shaft.

How to change the turn signal/wiper on the steering column

Its not to bad of a job. But there are some special tools involed. You will need to remove the steering wheel. Then the air bag coil. then the steering lock plate. Then the switch is just bolted on to the colume with torx 20 screws. There is a special tool to remove the steering wheel, it is called a bolt grip puller. There is a special tool to compress the steering lock plate to be able to remove the retainer to take it off. A simple pair of snap ring pliers will get your air bag coil off. Sounds like a big job but not bad at all if you have the tools. If you never plan on doing it again. I may be cheaper to have some one with tools do it compaired to going out and buying tools you may never use again.

I have a 87 blazer s10... the turnswitch /wiper/highbeam switch is broken and is shorting out my brakelights ..i cant seem to get to it.. took the steering weel off but ..?

Unfortunately there are some special tools required you will need to get to the turn-signal switch. Below is the procedure for replacing the turn-signal switch. Generally you can rent the puller from a local auto parts jobber or you can purchase one.
Good luck, let me know how it goes.
Regards,

Many vehicles use a turn signal switch that is separate from the multifunction switch. The steering wheel will have to be removed to gain access to the turn signal switch on these vehicles. The following procedure is a common method of turn signal switch replacement:
  • Place the fender covers on the fenders.
  • Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  • Remove the steering column trim.
  • Remove the horn pad from the steering wheel.

  • Remove the steering wheel and horn collar.
  • Use a suitable puller to remove the steering wheel.
  • With a suitable compressor, compress the preload spring to the lock plate. Compress the spring only enough to remove the snap ring.

  • Use a pick and a small flat blade screwdriver to remove the snap ring.
  • Remove the lock plate, horn contact carrier, and spring.
  • Remove the bolts at the upper steering column support and the upper mounting bracket from the column.
  • Disconnect the turn signal wiring connector.
  • Wrap tape around the wire and connector.
  • Remove the hazard warning knob from the column.
  • Remove the switch retaining screws and remove the switch.

  • Replace the switch and reverse these procedures for reinstallation.

Steering wheel ring

Remove horn cover, just pops off or slides off. Disconnect wire and set cover aside. Oh, point the wheel straight up and down. Find the right socket and remove that big nut right there once that nut is off you can use a steering wheel puller and remove it, OR what I do, is just start pulling on the wheel. Pull on top then bottom, side to side, it takes a little muscle to do so. It will pop off. Once off, put new wheel on making sure it's straight up and down, and put the nut back on the horn cover. Boom, your done.
