Question about 2006 Chevrolet Aveo

1 Answer

I have a 2006 Chevy Aveo, and the AC fan control knob broke off in my hand. I'd like to order a replacement and fix it myself. Any advice? Is this very difficult/complicated?

Thanks for taking the time to write, do you know what that part is called and where I can buy it? I'm sure the tricky part of the job is finding out how far into the dashboard the rod goes and what it attaches to.

Check for power to the fan and for a good ground. If those are both present then you would need a fan. If your old fan rubbed a hole in your radiator then I would definately check to see if the fan has play in it that would case it to hit the radiator.

Its easy. I did mine about a month ago. You need to take off all the bolts on the top part of the motor. there are some tubes on the left side of the motor by pushing them out of the way... you take the old one off and replace it with the new one making sure its aligned and the you put it back on.. the bolts need to be hand tightened kinda as tight as you would do your tires.

Heater Fan does not work

Sounds like the fan control knob has shorted out. You can check the fan "blower" relay and fuse in the engine compartment but you need to make sure the control knob is good or you will keep blowing fuses and relays. If your blower fuse and relay are good, then just have the control knob checked and replaced if needed.

Can't get the gear shift knob off.

most manual transmission shifter knobs are screwed on, twist to the left, look at the bottom of the knob, because some have a brass locking nut, if it does hold it with a wrench and twist to the left.

Chev aveo, no heat when sitting still

First....check your radiator...make sure its full. No water = no heat. Have you noticed that the knob controlling your heater has become much easier to move? If so, your cable may have come loose. Disconnect your Neg. battery cable. Remove radio, ac/heater control panel. This usually involves removing a few screws. Find your heater control valve located behind above items. You will see what looks like a plastic box behind the dash. On that box, you will find a cable mounted there that moves a lever back and forth. Make sure it moves the lever when you move your control knob. This is your heater control valve. While in there, look for any loose vacuum lines, connections, etc.

A little common sense goes a long way.
If anyone has been working on car in the same area i.e. radio..etc. this could cause one to investigate possible problems as a result.
