Ikeep blowing the brake light fuse

Hi

There is a switch under the brake pedal that presses down when you put your foot on the brake pedal, this iluminates the brake lights, they are plastic and do crak, when they crak the 2 wires can touch and this blows the fuse.

they are tricky to get at as you have to be on your back looking up into the drivers footwell, you should be able to feel it though, easy to do once you get to it, also try some wd40 on the switch if it looks ok.

Regards

Dan

Where is the rear brake light fuse for a 2005 Chevrolet Malibu Maxx

No fuse for the brake lights. It they short out the filament inside the bulb that lights up will blow just like a fuse would. If you replaced a bulb and it blew out you have a short somewhere in that circuit. If the bulb simply doesn't light up you need to adjust the brake lamp switch or replace it. That switch is located by the brake pedal you put your foot on to brake

Brake lights do not work when I place my foot on the brake pedal

its either both bulbs are blown which is unlikely for both to blow at once, its most probably going to be the fuse has blown simply replace it

Brake switch fuse keeps blowing

replace your brake pressure switch on the master cylinder and that should take care of your problem.

We have a problem with our 2000 stratus fuse, everytime we push on he brake pedal the fuse blows? What could be the problem?

It sounds like you have whats called "a short to ground" Breaks operate on whats called an open circut, only when you ppress the pedal does it allow the eectricity to flow hence lighting the rear break hights. You have a pinch wire which is grounding the system. Each time you press the pedal it sends the current to that ground shorting the circut and blowing the fuse. Trace the wires in the trunk as best you can and look for any damaged wires(oinched ,stripped, also check the break light socket .

Brake Light Fuse & Gas Gauge

Start by replacing your brake light bulbs. If it still blows the fuse, them your brake pedal switch. If it still happens then you have a shot circuit in your wiring between your fuse panel and your brake lights.
