Question about 2004 Honda Accord

2 Answers

The radio/cd player in my 2004 Accord LX intermittently stops playing with a loud pop or crackle and static. Changing the volume control does not change the volume of the static. After the brief static there is silence. After turning it off and back on, it may play normally or do the same thing, sometimes without the static, just silence. I would like to pull the radio out the dash and check the connections but I can't figure out how to do that. Have you heard of any other similar symptoms?

Thank you for the suggestion. I looked on the radio and can't figure out how to remove the front face plate to get to the controls to vacuum or clean the dust. Is there a way to do that?

The static type sound could be due to fine dust in the volume and other such controls. Please use a vacuum to blowout the dust from these controls. The connections may be OK.

Just do it from outside. If the dust could find its way in, surely the compressed air will too. Do it for a couple of minutes and then feel the difference.

I got this issue with my 1995 Accord LX. Took months to get to the problem. It was two bad spark plugs, both plugs were misfiring - one at a time. But once awhile both plugs misfired at the same time and the radio "reset" - like it was turned off - no sound. (Gasoline smell too.) New plugs? Good luck.

If your on/off button is also the volume control. Pull on the knob as you turn the volume up and down threw this section, don't pull so hard that you pull it off the radio. Do this a few tims it seem to work for me when I get static at the control knob. It either gets dirty in there or corrossion, or just a bad contact. Usually it's when the volume and on/off button are the same button.

The problem sounds like intermittent power supply. There might be an inline fuse which sometimes does cause problems. Remove the radio and check the power line to see if there is such a fuse. If so, remove and clean it with a bit of sandpaper, put it all together and see if it helps.
Sorry, can't be more helpful.

My radio and c/d player will just shut off out of

There is a factory default with the radio circuit board in radios installed in 2003-2004 Honda Accords. Honda will replace or repair the radio free of charge on and extended warranty. The radio will eventually fail for good. I know, as the one in my 2004 Accord failed in March of this year. My Honda dealer replaced the radio with a reconditioned unit absolutely free. Contact you local Honda dealer.

The sound chip may have gone in the stereo, especially if someone has had it on very loud they sometimes blow, otherwise you have 2 speaker wires touching each other, that way you only get static noise, insidee the door they sometimes come free and touch the body

Check all your speaker wires first.

Sounds like the head unit is bad. If the truck is under warranty , get it back to the dealership.
