The pulsation you feel is caused by warped front brake rotors. You will need to replace the rotors and it would be smart to change the front pads at the same time.

Why does the ABS seem to move forward a few more feet when I brake at a stop sign


The ABS feel like a fast pulsing in the brake pedal-- it's unmistakable. If there is no pulsing, then it probably isn't the ABS. The ABS should only kick in when you are stopping quickly on slippery ground. If it is coming on everytime you stop, then there is definitely a problem and this needs to be looked at by a professional-- preferably a dealership for your particular vehicle, though this isn't necessary.

Is your ABS working properly? Under heavy braking the ABS should engage and 'pulse' the brakes on/off. It is normal to feel the brake petal flutter or pulse under your foot.

Under light braking there should be no pulsing as the ABS does not engage and you have changed the rotors and pads.

Hey I have a 98 volvo v90 wagon. I replaced rotors pads calipers and hoses from brake lines to calipers on the front. Now my abs light is on and when I brake only sometimes I can feel the brakes pulsating....


Hey man The ABS light is most likely a speed sensor out of range. It will not effect normal braking function. You have already spent a ton of money. Chasing an ABS light fault is not cost effective and you wont feel the difference. ABS problems are a dealer only option(expensive). Take that ABS bulb out of the dash and forget about it.

Brake problem.


bleed the brakes again starting form the longest line back to the shortest
if you have been getting a pulsing feeling at the pedal under normal brakes you have warped rotors that need replacing or machining
under normal brakes the abs is not effective and it is only under sever brakes that you will experience the pulsations at the pedal

When I push down brakes pedal there is a noise like bump bump. It also feels on the pedal. I already replaced rotors and pads. Master cylinder is OK, and so fluid lines. The car is a Renaut Megane...


Hi.If your brake pedal seems to pulse.This is probubly the abs cutting in due to afaulty wheel speed sensor. Because the sensor is not working correctly. the system thinks theres a skid situation. it thinks one wheel is stopping faster than the other and ABS system automaticly puts brakes on and off many times a second hense the pedal pulsing. The car will need to be pluged into a code reader to find out which sensor is faulty.
The renault`s had aproblem with rear ABS sensor ring. This is the part which is on the roting part of the hub, sometimes they are a segmented ring and they also use a magnetic ring

I stopped a little short in my ford van and the abs light came on steady. i hear the motor running or something in the abs system. after 1 hr driving this way, the noise stopped, the bread light came on...


I think you could make it home, but to be on the safe side. FIRST check the normal breaking while just starting to move to make sure your brakes function normally. You your brake system may be overheated and needs to cool down for a few minutes.The ABS (Anti-Lock Braking) system is a unit that rapidly pumps the brakes with a rapid pulse. That function is now absent and you most likely now have regular functioning brakes with no ABS. IN A SAFE AREA start very slowly in low gear and push on the brakes to see how the vehicle stops. If that is good. Try it again at higher speed. You will immediately know if your Brakes are working. If so, drive home. NOTE: There is a back up brake system in all cars that works but requires a lot of pressure applied to the brakes. That is there as a safety measure.
It's most likely you DO NOT have ABS. It appears as though the switch that turns on the ABS automatically in a short stop Stayed on. This would have made the pulsing ABS unit motor continue to work until it:
a) burned out. or
b) burned out the fuse wire that leads to it.So, in effect, it was pulsing your brakes whether you needed it or not.
The smell was likely your brakes being over used.
Get this checked out immediately. I just did a quick search and there has been a massive Ford Recall concerning ABS systems for many of the Ford Vehicles including the E-150s

Truck not stoping and anti brake is working.


dosen't stop at all or just slow?, if the abs is working then you should feel the pulseing in the brake pedal just before tire lock-up, the tires will not lock-up with abs fully funtioning unless all four tires or two are in lock-up depending on the abs application, if abs fails it reverts it self to regular braking ability, hope this helps

drive the car apply slowly the emergency brake you gonna brake with the rear only if you fell the pulse its our rear drum that warp be carefull when applying the emergency try to hold the release handle at the same time if no pulse change our front rotor there nothing else that can pulse when you brake hope it help fixya our post thanks pierre

sounds like your abs feature is in-operative(that's the one that won't allow the wheels to lock-up when the brake is applied in an emergency)the abs system should pulse your brakes during an emergency application of pressure on the pedal,i'd get to a dealer immediately (and i mean don't go anywhere else until this problem is corrected)
