Question about 2002 Mercury Cougar
Hi. This could be a problem with the sunroof motor and need checking. For the meantime, please follow the procedure below so you can close the sunroof manually.
On the roof above the rear view mirror is your intior light. Pop it out and disconect (from the plugs) Behind it you can see the motor that controls the sunroof. You will see a circular looking end that has a small allen key in it's center. Match the allen key and screww counterclockwise. This may take some effort as it is very hard to turn and the space is very limited (About 1/8 of a turn each time). This will slowly bring the sunroof back down.
All the best!
