I have a 2005 jeep compass getting gas but wont start

IF you are sure that it is getting gas, then you should check to see if the crank sensor is ok.

Honda pilot out of gas put gas in and still won't start

false economy that.....
the pump is fuel cooled and Lubricated,
running it dry, wrecks the pump. (at the least lost the prime)

this car is no like an old carb car ,where this is ok.

if lucky key on and off 10 times, and hear the pump, it you hear it run.
it may prime. some cars 1/2 the pump is dead until cranked.
so easy to drain a battery priming the pump.

I have a 2005 hyundai elantra and when i crank it the rpms go up and down. Down to the point that all the lights go dim and flicker and it cuts off. I hit the gas and it revs up but fluctuates up and down...

I do not know if this applies to you, but I do know some cars will do this when the radiator is low on coolant.
Happened to me.
Be blessed.

Have a 2005 neon having a problem starting it keeps turning over and over hit the gas it will start cut the car off go out the next day starts up fine go out 30 mins later wont start at all

Had same problem with my 05 neon....crank sensor is not working properly.....go to parts store, you can get one with lifetime warranty for bout $20-$30....driver side of block, just remove battery, it is not hard to remove or install....had to change mine a couple times then haven't had any probs for couple years now....good luck..

I have a 2003 Kia sedona ran out of igas now wont start the code I get say crank posistioning sensor will that cut or cause the fuel pump not to work cause I get no humming from it the code is p0335

No this does not affect the fuel pump. It will affect the spark though. Hit the gas tank in the center a few times. If it starts then replace the fuel pump. Unfortunetly pumps with a few yaers on them will die when ran out of gas. If it doesn't start pull one of the spark plug wires, insert a screwdriver and put it close to the engine. crank the engine and watch for a spark. if there is no spark then replace the crank shaft sensor. before you replace the fuel pump.

Recntly I ran out of gas and ever since my 2005 Escape has to crank for 5 seconds before it starts. It used to start immediately as soon as it cranked

It will take a few times to correct itself. There may be air in the lines from when you ran out of gas. But I wouldn't worry about it unless it kicking a engine light or service light.

2005 sonata has been sitting for 3 months ,replaced battery yesterday but car just keeps cranking over'Idon't think it is getting fuel.

hi if the car was running ok when it was parked up and the battery is cranking at a resonable tourqe you will get it started with a bump start it may need to tow started as the valves and valve seats in your car get a build up of carbon fossilisation which results in low compressions i am presuming you not had a bump in it and thats why its been laid up becase if this is the case it will have triggered the fuel cut out switch just reset the switch yates210456
