Buy or borrow a compression tester gauge that screws into the block where you take out a spark plug. disable the engine so it won't start (coil wire, computer or ignition fuse, fuel pump fuse or connector, etc). turn the engine over several seconds for a reading that should hold for a long period of time. if it doesn't build up pressure or leaks down quickly that's a compression problem. don't worry about actual psi readings, just compare all the cylinders to one another. they should be relatively equal and hold pressure.

  4. no scan codes, you check or spark on all cylinders.;
  5. you check spark at all cylinders
  6. check #1 spark timing and if way off cam slipped check compression, all ok, engines with bad compression dont run. 170psi is a goal. if 80 psi ,hopeless

Toyota Avalon 2000 battery went dead, put slow charge on, now the temp/fuel gauge and panel lights don't work. Fuses look good. Where is the problem?

Try a new battery. If current battery is more than 5 years old ,and after you charge it she doen't pass a load test ...its time to go.
