Question about 2005 Ford Freestar

1 Answer

I own a 2004 Ford Freestar Van. I started the van one morning to go to work and put the van in gear and it would not move. I have never had any issue with the van. It only has 77K miles on it. Could it possibly be a fuse or shift switch or something. I was thinking that this van uses an electronic shift transmission. Thanks for any advice or help.

Hello! There is a Technical Service Bulletin; TSB 06-14-10 for this vehicle that addresses water entering the Power Train Control Module (PCM...computer) or Transaxle vent which will cause transmission problems...A fix for this problem is available at your dealership...Your vehicle does have an electronic shift transmission...Which is controlled by the PCM...No individual fuse powers the digital shift circuit...It powers the PCM...If a fuse were blown the vehicle would not start...

2004 ford freestar drivebelt

All you need is a 13mm boxed end wrench. The tensioner pulley is the one all the way on the bottom towards the rear of the van. You can reach it under the van. Slide under the van in front of the passenger front tire and you will wee the pulley. Put the wrench on the bolt and pull towards you to release the tension on the belt.
