Question about 2007 Kia Rondo LX V6

1 Answer

Our 2008 kia rondo was parked at the airport parking for a week. after coming back from our vacation, we went to the car and found out it couldn't start. at first we thought the problem was cause of the battery but after jumping the car and driving 10 miles, the car died. we took it to the auto shop and they said it's problem was it's fuel pump. we didn't let them fix the problem because it was expensive but we changed the fuel pump at home. after we were done, the car still couldn't start. any idea?

FIrst thing that I would do is change the gasoline. and the fuel filter. Then have the computer read to see if any codes are recorded. I would venture to say that it is something in the gas.

Ancillary item, heater blower, radio etc can cause issues as can chafed insulation on the loom itself.
Use a car headlamp instead of a fuse to aid fault finding. When the short circuit is gone the bulb will be dim.

Answering this 2014 question in case some else has this problem. Most likely the relay is malfuntioning and needs to be replaced. The relay is located in the engine compartment behind the battery. Use your owners manual for addition information if you can no longer read the diagram under the cover. If you dont have your manual, you can DL free here 2009 KIA Spectra Owner Manual 291 pages

I have headlights and running lites, press brake pedal, no brake lites

Pull on your parking lights to see if they come on in the back.If the parking lights work and you still don't have brake lights then I would try replacing the brake switch and check all of your fuses just to eliminate any question of it being a fuse. The brake switch is located under the dash attached to the brake pedal. Also check the bulbs to also eliminate them.it sounds like your brake switch is bad.
