May not be either. Does the van run hot? If it doesn't then the coolant when it is heated is going to the overflow reservoir and if that fills up then out the overflow line to the driveway or the garage floor but everything is O.K.

What would cause antifreeze to come out of the overflow of the reservoir?

Remove radiator cap when car is completely cold. Refill radiator look to see circulation when cap starts turn heater high. When thermostat opens water will be drawn from overflow into radiator. If this does not occur faulty thermostat is probable cause if no circulation change water pump. Refill water to correct levels and car should run correctly

Water disppaearing out reservoir box ew radiator.......

Could be your water pump is leaking or a loose hose clamp,to find out for sure Sherry, you need to get under front and look for antifreeze, will need a flashlight, and follow to where it's coming from.Usually when cold, the antifreeze will be on that mark on the overflow container, then after driven for a while,it will expand and rise to the hot mark. You also have heater hoses going to heater core,is floor board in front wet.You have a hose going to thermostat and water pump. Also check radiater cap.

Water pump; My 1990 Buick Century is leaking what looks like water or antifreeze, it's probably a mix of both because we have been putting water in the radiator. But everytime I park my car for a...

if you have the cooling system pressure tested this will show where the leak is coming from as there are frost pulgs and intake/headgaskets and other things that could be leaking.but pressure testing is the way to find what is leaking for sure.the rad may be full as it will draw water from the overflow bottle until its empty.if you didn`t have this problem until after the plugs were changed then it could be a hose that is leaking that was leaned on or moved to much.again pressure testing the system will show were its leaking.the whining noise could be antifreeze that has gotten on something causing the noise.

My sunfire overheats and leaks out overflow everytime i drivee it.i changed water pump, thermostat the fan is working fine and had a water pressure test done last mth

DID YOU BLEED AIR OUT THE COOLANT SYSTEM.TO BLEED COOLANT SYSTEM, FILL THE COOLANT SYSTEM THROUGH THE RESERVOIR TANK OR THE RADIATOR UNTIL THE FULL COLD MARK IS REACHED.BESURE TO USE 50/50 HALF WATER AND ANTIFREEZE.YOU CAN BUY ANTIFREEZE THAT IS ALREADY PREMIX 50/50.AFTER ADDING ANTIFREEZE TO RESERVOIR OR RADIATOR FILL RADIATOR TO FULL MARK OR IF YOU DONT HAVE RADIATOR CAP ON RADIATOR POUR ANTIFREEZE IN THE OVERFLOW JUG UNTIL COOLANT LEVEL STAY THE FULL COLD MARK.WAIT AWHILE UNTIL COOLANT LEVEL STOP DROPPING.NOW INSTALL THE RADIATOR OR OVER FLOW JUG CAP.START THE ENGINE AND ALLOW IT TO RUN UNTIL NORMAL OPERATING TEMPERATURE IS REACHED AND THE UPPER RADIATOR HOSE BECOME HOT.STOP THE ENGINE AND OBSERVE THE COOLANT LEVEL IN THE OVERFLOW JUG. THE COOLANT LEVEL SHOULD BE AT THE FULL HOT LINE.ALLOW THE ENGINE TO COOL UNTIL THE AMBIENT TEMPERATURE IS REACHED THEN CHECK THE COOLANT LEVEL IT SHOULD BE AT OR ABOVE THE FULL COLD LINE.ADD MORE COOLANT IF NECESSARY. WARNING BECAREFUL WHEN OPEN THE RADIATOR CAP OR JUG OVER FLOW CAP.USE A LARGE RAG OVER THE RADIATOR CAP TO KEEP FROM GETTING SCALDED.OPEN RADIATOR CAP A LITTLE AT A TIME TO KEEP FROM GETTING SCALDED.WAIT UNTIL ENGINE COOL DOWN BEFORE OPENING RADIATOR CAP OR OVERFLOW JUG CAP.WEAR SAFETY GLASSES.

The antifreeze puddle? the is no water coming out of the water pump is there any more solutions?

Other possible sources for the anti-freeze are:
  • leaking radiator hose - concentrate on the area where the clamps are, they commonly fray and leak.
  • check radiator for leaks - common places on the radiator that leak are on the weld seams and the petcock
  • area around the thermostat - if the thermostat is plugged, it could be forcing anti-freeze backward and compromise the seal you have around the thermostat

I am not sure if it the water pump, but we are losing water and there does not seem to be any leak in the coolant reservoir.

A water pump would not likely cause loss of water, mainly overheating problems.First fill the radiator full and the overflow full, you can use water to do this,it is not necessary to waste antifreeze. You do not need a 100% mix of antifreeze.During winter where it gets below freezing, you really only need about 70% antifreeze to prevent freeze.Maybe a little more if you are 1 or 2 states from Canada. If you open the hood and let the car run, watch the tubes and the radiator and the hoses, follow anything hooked up to the radiator. If you end up getting a big leak or puddle, dilute it down with tons of water.Birds for some reason like the taste of antifreeze however it kills them.Good luck! Leaking Coolant, but not from radiator???

is it possible it is your overflow bottle leaking or too full? If not These cars are bad about headgaskets. Start your car remove radiator cap and let it idle till it is up to temp and top radiator. If you have a leaking gasket or cracked head you would most probably see bubles and the water will try and come out of the radiator fill. What hapens on many is while your driving, combustion gases force the antifreez out into the overflow and it fills up and spills over.
