Try replacing bulb first, if that doesn't help look for a poor connection like a broken wire or corroded bulb socket.

  • chev_s10_man Sep 13, 2010

I tred changing bulb and cleaning contacts and still don't work : I cannot find backup lamps in criut in book

  • Anonymous Sep 18, 2010

The next step would be to folow wire back to wiring harness looking for a break, and check ground, you may have to remove whole light assembly. You can use test light to help finding power wire. Wiring can take time to trace problems.

Try replacing bulb if that don't work it is either a fuse or a short in the wiring.

05 Chevy Colorado driver side rear driving light doesn't come on. Blinker & Brake lights work.

I have a 2006 Silverado that rear lamps have recently quit working. A turn lamp and backup lamp on opposing sides.

One was from loose socket contacts and the other was oxidation of lamp contacts. You can bend socket contacts closer to make them tighter and clean bulb contacts. It's been several weeks now and all is fine.

Reversing light fuse 2010 lucerne

Battery voltage from the CHMSL/BCK-UP fuse located in the rear fuse block is supplied to the body control module (BCM) for backup lamp operation. When the gear selector is placed in to the REVERSE position, the powertrain control module (PCM) sends a GMLAN serial data message to the BCM indicating that the gear selector is in the reverse position. The BCM then applies battery voltage to the backup lamp supply voltage circuit illuminating the left and right backup lamps. Ground for both backup lamps is provided at G403.

Why back up lights come on when I pull the key out of ignition on 2006 lacrosse buick

Any DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes stored in any module ? PCM/ECM , BCM , TCM etc..... That would be the first diagnostic step - hook up a factory or some other type of professional scan tool . We don't guess , we test . Then we read service information on how it works . Or suppose to work . Backup Lamps The CHMSL/BKUP fuse in the instrument panel (I/P) fuse block supplies battery positive voltage to the body control module (BCM). When the driver places the gear selector in to the REVERSE position, the powertrain control module (PCM) sends a class 2 message to the BCM. The BCM then applies battery positive voltage to the backup lamp supply voltage circuit. The left backup lamp is grounded at G301 and the right backup lamp is grounded at G302.
DTC B2545 Backup Lamps Circuit
DTC B2545 is set either when the backup lamps supply voltage circuit is shorted to ground or opened, or if the CHMSL/Bkup fused voltage supply circuit to the BCM is shorted to ground or opened.
If no DTC'S are set ,then go to diagnostic flow chart . Backup Lamps Always On

Backup Lamps
Vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission, the BU LMP fuse in the IP fuse block supplies battery positive voltage to the park/neutral position switch. Vehicles equipped with a manual transmission, the BU LMP fuse in the IP fuse block supplies battery positive voltage to the backup lamps switch. When the driver places the gear selector lever in the REVERSE position, the current flow is from the park/neutral position switch or the backup lamps switch, to the back up lamps. The backup lamps are grounded at G401 and G402.
Do a voltage drop test ! This show which side of the circuit has the problem , power or ground ! Here is a video from youtube ! Buy a cheap DVOM .

Where is backup light switch on 01 impala

Backup Lamps
The B/U LAMP fuse in the RH I/P fuse block supplies battery positive voltage to the switch terminal of the backup lamps relay. The DIC/RKE fuse supplies battery positive voltage to the backup lamps relay coil terminal. When you place the gear selector lever in the REVERSE position, the powertrain control module (PCM) sends a class 2 message to the body control module (BCM). When these conditions occur, the BCM energizes the reverse lamp relay control circuit, closing the switch contacts, the current flows from the reverse lamp relay switch to the backup lamps. The backup lamps are grounded at G302.

There is alot involved in turn on the back up lights .
DTC B2552
Circuit Description
The body control module (BCM) controls the backup lamp relay. The BCM grounds the backup lamp relay control circuit which energizes the backup lamp relay.

2
Install a scan tool.
Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
With a scan tool, command the backup lamp relay ON and OFF.
Does the backup lamp relay turn ON and OFF with each command?
YES - Go to Diagnostic Aids
NO - Go to Step 3

DTC B2553
The body control module (BCM) controls the backup lamp relay. The BCM grounds the backup lamps relay control circuit which energizes the backup lamp relay.
Turn the ignition ON.
Shift the gear selector lever to the REVERSE position.
Do the backup lamps turn ON?
YES - Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems
NO - Go to Step 3
3
Remove the backup lamps relay.
Connect a test lamp between the battery positive supply voltage circuit of the switched side of the backup lamp relay and ground.
Does the test lamp illuminate?
Before replacing parts you may not need , take your vehicle to a qualified repair shop .

Backup Lamps
The TURN SIG fuse in the console fuse block supplies battery positive voltage to park neutral position switch. When the gear selector lever is in the REVERSE position, power is supplied to both of the backup lamps. The backup lamps are grounded at G401 and G402.
Do you know what DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes are ?
DTC B2552
The body control module (BCM) controls the backup lamp relay. The BCM grounds the backup lamp relay control circuit energizing the backup lamp relay. The BCM connects directly to the center console fuse block with no external wiring between them.
DTC B2553
The body control module (BCM) controls the backup lamp relay. The BCM grounds the backup lamps relay control circuit energizing the backup lamp relay. The BCM connects directly to the center console fuse block with no external wiring between them.
Backup Lamps Always On
  1. Turn ON the ignition.
  2. Shift the gear selector lever to the REVERSE position and then to the PARK position.
Do the backup lamps turn on in REVERSE and turn off in PARK?
Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems
Go to Step 3

3

Remove the backup lamps relay.
Do the backup lamps turn OFF?
Go to Step 5
Go to Step 4

4

Repair a short in the backup lamps relay switched battery positive voltage supply circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you complete the repair?
