Door ajar light stays on as well as the interior light but all doors are close tight.

Pull the boot that carries the wires to from the car to the door open it and check for broken wires , if there broken wires repair as necessary , also if there is no broken wires , closed driver door and push it harder while its closed push and check for the adjar light , check all doors . But I would start with door push first if it didn't do anything check the wires . Hope this helps .

The door adjar lights stay on, and the dome lights stay on when the doors are all shut.

One of the switches that gets pressed in by the closed door is bad.

Door adjar warning light stays on. Dome and cargo light stays on.

You need to remove the door ajar sensors from the doors and clean and lube them. You must remove the interior door panel then remove the door latch. Then twist the switch out of the latch to work on it.

The door adjar message comes on and none of the doors or back latch are open.

In each one of the doors is a small switch attached to, or part of the door latch assembly, much like a light switch in your house. When the door is open, the switch closes, the same way you would turn on the lights in your house. When vehicle door switch is on, it tells the body control module that the door is open then sends the message "door adjar.
To determine which door switch is causing the problem, your mechanic can connect a scan tool to the vehicle and see which one of the door switches is on when the doors are closed. Once the switch has been identified, he or she can change the switch for you.
Good luck and let me know how it comes out.
Best regards.

Door ajar light and auto locks keep going on and off while drivin

It sounds like there is a short somewhere. Either a bad ground, pinched wire going from the door to the fuse box, or a possibly a bare wire shorting out onto something. You say that the door adjar light and the door locks are affected. Check the door switch and make sure that it isn't broken, shorted out or sticking. Function test it. If you disconnect the door switch and take a test drive does the problem still exists? Yes? Disconnect the other side. Did that cure the problem? Yes? Replace as necessary. No? The problem isn't in your door switch(s). So that much has been ruled out. These are just some areas to start trouble shooting. At first I immediately thought "Door Lock Switch," but when you mentioned that the Door Ajar light keeps going on along with the light then it leads me away from the Controls and more towards the Door light Switch usually in the jam of the door, but you didn't mention the year, make and model, so location of the switch is obscure. If the door locks are switching on and off and the door adjar light is in harmany with it then make sure the door is secure, not loose when closed allowing the door adjar switch to break the connection. These are the areas I would investigate first. Is there a significant amount of slop in the door when you push and pull on the door like it isn't secure? These are some areas to take into consideration when trouble shooting.

Good luck. I hope this helps narrow things down for you.

1999 cougar door adjar lights

if u can not see the door ajar switches then thay are located in the latch assembleys of each door. if this is the case then buy a can of PB BLASTER at your local auto parts store and spray each latch assembley really good and close and open each door 10 to 15 times this will usually free up the stuck switch
