Dont know what make or model car it is but if the door opens wiht the key, then t's likely the motor drive or solenoid is r/s and will need replacing. I dont know how much experience you have, but you can buy universal replacement kits for a lot of cars. or you can go to the wreckers and get second hand one.
percyhey, The first idea is to check the starter itself. You will need a test light for this procedure. Jack up the car and put jackstands under the frame to support it. PLEASE DO NOT go under the car with out them. Ramps would be easier and safer if you have them. Locate the starter and the little wire going to the solenoid. Remove the wire and find a good ground for the test light. The negative battery terminal is best if your test light wires are long enough. If not then use the body or engine as a ground and test this by touching the test light probe to the large wire on the starter and see if it lights up. If the small wire is bolted to the starter then you dont have to remove it, just make sure that it is intact. Touch the test light probe at the small wire and have someone try to start the engine. If it lights up then you have power going to the starter and the solenoid is malfunctioning and the starter needs to be replaced. Seeing that you have already tested the fuses and relays and replaced the ignition switch then this is the only possibility left. If you dont have power going to the solenoid then check the battery wires. Good luck with this.
Your most likely will have to remove the door panel-to examine the likage and relays that are also part of the inside of panel-thats the starting point-also power actuaters have known to go out-located and pop riveted to the panel frame.
Sounds like a connection problem/error. When you replaced the starter solenoid, do you remember how many wires you disconnected and reconnected?
Was there any indication ( sparks, etc) of accidentally causing a short when you replaced the solenoid?
Your initial problem of no start but hearing the click sound is almost a sure fire indication that the starter is NG. If the solenoid clicks, that means that it is applying 12 volts to the starter.
if there is another solonoid itll be in line with the main power cable coming from the starter.follow the starter power cable from the starter to the battery if you dont see anything inline it probably doesnt have one.your problem could also be a ground problem........try running a wire from the starter case to the neg batterty terminal........a set of booster cables is the easiest way to do this.........dont short the pos and neg terminals though
hello im sorry to here that i read what you replaced but i dont see anything about a bad starter solenoid wich is mounted on your inside wall off your pass fender ford solenoids have a mind of there own on the solenoid you will see your ignition wire connection marked i pull it off slowly to feel if it is to loose if it is lightly close slightly with pliers so you get a tighter fit if you havnt replaced the solenoid i would clean all contacts to it including were it mounts for a good ground goodluck
