Question about 2008 Mercedes-Benz Mercedes Benz E Class

Open Question

My 2008 mb e350 key turns on ignition but won't lock/unlock doors. It looks like there's been some water/rust on contacts. Can I replace just the circuit board?

SOURCE: car won't acknowledge key in ignition

As you know the battery in your key not only operates the courtesy controls, it also sends a signal to a sensor in the vehicle that allows the key to be used. Either the chip in the key is faulty or the onboard system is not recognizing the key. Call the dealer(sorry, hate giving that advice) and tell them the same. Have them start with the key first, so to keep the cost down a little. You could check through the technical book for a relay or fuse associated with the security system of the vehicle. You can get this online as a PDF file.

SOURCE: 2001 mb clk 320, my ignition switch will not turn.

Hi there
I had something similar on my merc
but yours sounds similar.
the fact that you say the steering lock no longer works is very worrying, most times the key not going past position 1 is due to the steering lock being actuated and the pressure in it has to be released before the key will turn, you will have to go from lock to lock the find where the steering lock actuates when this happens follow my wiggle method of turning the steering wheel slightly when the steering lock is on the disengage it. ie keep trying the key whilst wiggeling the steering wheel.
hope that helps

Why will my 2008 hummer H3 door locks with key but will not unlock with key. the key will not turn to unlock

The lock assembly in the door is faulty. It gets tricky since Hummers are no longer in production. Changing the door lock cylinders will get you a different key than the ignition. Any GM dealer should be able to get you the parts.

Key issue/ mechanical doesn't fit hole

Your car may have had a new ignition switch installed - hence the different key. The FOB may not be programmed properly to lock / unlock. Have you contacted a MB dealer?

My MB ML350 stick key (metal key) wont unlock the door. The key goes in, it turns but the lock will not open.

Check the door lock fuse in the fuse panel... try the key on another door... may just be that the manual lk is malfunctioning on that door... if the other doors don't respond and the fuse is good then the key probably needs to be reprogrammed by the dealer to the door... happens when your battery dies or is replaced.

How to get into programming mode to program a remote?

Few Toyota models came equipped with remote door locks before 2008 - surprisingly!

Your car may not have the radio receiver to work with door locks. In that case, you need the radio and some wireing to pair with your remotes.

Remote locks the doors but will not unlock doors or trunk Battery

It is entirely possible that the unlock button on the remote is worn such that it is not making contact. I've seen this happen many times, as the unlock button is pressed so much more than lock. You might try to reprogram the remote first before you look into getting a new remote. The procedure goes like this. Close and lock all doors Key in and out of the ignition 6 times, hazard lights should flash twice Turn key into accessory or on position Unlock and lock doors with drivers switch Press lock or unlock on remote Hazards should flash again to verify recognition turn key off  manually unlock door and then open and shut it.  you should then be able to test remote.
The key to the procedure is doing step two quickly Hope this helps, if not you may need another remote or see dealer.
