Laurie, why bypass the compressor? - even if it is frozen, as long as the AC clutch is not activated there will not be an issue. To be safe just disconnect the wire powering the AC clutch.
If low on gas, AC clutch will not be energized. Check for clutch operation by bypassing the low pressure cut off switch. If ac starts to run that is the problem. If it still does not energize then the clutch on AC compressor is bogus.
i think you need a new compressor which is why the belt was left off ,also the gas is the main lubricant for the compressor as well so running it with no gas hasnt helped either ,best of british with it anyway
Not with a different belt, If you want to bypass your AC go to your local parts store and purchase a AC bypass pulley remove the AC comperssor bolt on the bypass pulley then use your original belt. make sure to cap ac lines to keep dirt out if you want to put AC back on.
