I discovered that it was a fuse that could had been damage during jump starting a friends vehicle. The fuse has some type of connection to the starter and ignition. Replace the fuse and no problems so far. The starter was rebuilted and the problem still contiune. Thanks for your quick reply.

Two things, the starter may not be grounding on the block or it has develloped a dead spot, # 1 is easy, clean all contact points, #2 requires replacement or rebuilding

Never hit a Japanese starter with a hammer. They have permanent field magnets and they will shatter like glass. These starters are prone to low voltage at key signal wire on the solenoid (black with white ) John Deere has a starter relay kit that will supply full voltage to the starter solenoid. Wire per enclosed instruction sheet.

1996 F150 will not start. Turn key and nothing

if you hear clicking at the starter solenoid, then hit the starter with a hammer a few times,if it turns over a little, then either replace the brushes in the starter which is about $20.00 or buy a new rebuilt starter for about $90.00

My 98 Monte Carlo won't start. The lights, radio, windows all work, but when I turn the key nothing happens.

check the fuses there is a starter fuse, if not check the starter for power at the small wire if no power could be the relay,if you have power at the small wire its the starter that's bad.

Envoy is getting power on key turn, but it will not turn over. I know it is not the battery. I was installing a remote start and once I started it,with key, it ran rough so I took all remote start parts...

Most likely you either connected one of the wires in the steering column/ignition switch wrong or didn't connect one of them. The start circuit has contacts to make sure the transmission is in either Park or Neutral, and also has contacts on the ignition switch. Since you probably didn't disturb any wires on the starter or solenoid when you wired the remote start, the best place to look first is the places where you added the remote start.

Volvo 2.0 S40cd 1996 . Battery not flat but won't start , ignition lights flashing , engine won't turn over . Lights ok and central locking ok . tried to jump start from another vehicle but no effect .

hi, the problem you are having sounds like the starter motor has packed up if when you turn the key you get nothing or you might even hear a faint click, if you open the bonnet then get someone to turn the key you might hear a faint click coming from the starter motor. This click indicates the starter motor needs replacing.

you could try hitting the starter motor with a hammer give it a few good hard hits this might get the starter motor working for a while if not then it needs replacing at once if it works then this isnt a permanent fix so be warned.

Let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok

Remote starter

Apparently the vehicle was in park enough to get the key out, but not enough to get it to turn to start or allow the remote starter to work. Once it had been jiggled around and put ALL the way into the PARK position, all works well again!

Vehicle will not start

it sounds like the solenoid on the starter. you can try bumping on it with something. it has wires connecting to it. dont hit it real hard though.
