SOURCE: timing a 92 chevy s10

The tan colored wire with a black stripe is located either breaking out of the wire harness near the distributor, or under the carpet on the passenger side floor, (look up towards the top right hand corner, and you might also have to remove the kick panel to see it if it got stuffed behind the kick panel).

It is a Tan colored wire with a Black stripe, and it will usually have a unique black connector.

You will know it is the right wire because when it is dis-connected at the connector the idle and timing will change, and the check-engine light will come on.

Set the timing where you want it to be, then turn off the ignition and re-connect the wire to the electronic timing control. Re-start the vehicle and the check-engine light should go out, that is of course if it was not already on before because of another problem.

You can re-set the check-engine light by dis-connecting the battery ground for three minutes.

Bellhueycobra@msn.comi cant read the marks onthe timing plate as they are worn off 94 s10 4,3 what are they

also keep this in mind when setting the 4.3 if its the vortec Set timing under the following conditions:

* Normal operating temperature.
* Air cleaner installed.
* A/C "OFF."
* Transmission in neutral.
* Disconnect SET TIMING connector.

The location of the set timing connector is inside the cab where the heater box and the carpet meet on the passenger side floor. Pull carpet back to expose the single wire and connectors on the outside of the control module harness. The wire colors are tan with a black stripe. DO NOT disconnect 4 wire connector at distributor. (connector is sometimes found hanging right in front of the blower motor)

Connect timing light and adjust as necessary by loosening hold down bolt and rotating distributor. Tighten hold down and recheck the timing. Stop the engine and connect SET TIMING connector. Clear control module trouble code by disconnecting control module power source. With engine at operating temperature, drive vehicle at part throttle with moderate acceleration and decelerate to idle condition. This will "teach" the control module and return the engine to normal performance.

Where is crank censer located on a 1997 s10 truck?

the jeep wraangler is on the bell housing on the drivers side and can be addressed from under the drivers side behingd the front wheel. The S10 the cranks senser depends on the motor size and the year but if it's a 87 4.3 it's in the bottom of the timing cover just behinf the cranks shaft pulley for the belt drive.

Timing Dpecs for Toyota Supra 87 6 cylinder

1987 non-turbo: 10 deg Before Top Dead Center (BTDC) @700 rpm
1987 Turbo: 10 deg BTDC @650 rpm.

To set the timing, you will need to connect a jumper wire between terminals E1 and TE1 on the diagnostic terminal. This diagnostic terminal is located just aft of the engine compartment fuse box. It is a black plastic box marked "diagnostic" on the cover, which flips open to reveal the terminals inside. There is a diagram on the inside of the cover which explains the terminal positions. On the Turbo model, you need to remove the forward section of the engine cover to gain access to the number one spark plug wire.

I just put in a rebuilt 1993 s10 motor and cant find the wire to set the timing. been behind glove box and under dash but no wires worked. what else can i do?

To set the timing you will have to find a black connector that is running beside the wiring harness next to or near the distributor. It is a single wire connector and must be disconnected in order to set the timing properly. Hope this helps.
