Question about Porsche Boxster

1 Answer

I have Porsche-Boxster 2006. The other day I wanted to open the roof. I pressed release button, the hook jumped out of the hole as usually. I went for a switch and pressed up. At that moment I noticed that the hook did not disengaged completely. Too late! I heard breaking noise in the back. The roof stopped. I went strait to the dealer. They discovered that two push rods are broken. After $550 the roof works again. I am under impression that the roof latch design is at fault. The latch should open completely without my ?assistance?. What do you think?

Hi this does sound like you have a faulty roof, according to porsche you should be able to open the roof at speeds upto 50 mph, i am affraid if you were messing about with trying to open latches at that speed i think really it would be dangerous they are fully automated, unlike the old type where you had to unhook them first before the electrical part would work, so yes you are correct in saying you do indeed have a faulty latch, i would personally take it back to the dealers and get them to put it right, that is my own opinion i might emphasize as we are not allowed to actually tell you what you should do, just give advice as to what could be done...hope that helps

To close the top, the parking brake must be engaged and the ignition in the ON position. Assuming that these conditions are met, you can close the top manually if needed. The procedure involves (1) removing key, (2) removing convertible top link covers, (3) gently prying conv top lid links on both side, (4) lifting the conv top lid to open position, (5) gently prying the red links off, and (6) finally manually lifting the top to the closed position.

Before taking such measures, if you do not hear the motors, check the B6 and D3 relays. You might also want to check the microswitch on the top/center windshield frame.

Car stood for over a week, unlocked via key in door, rear spoiler raised, spoiler and airbag fault messege on screen. Car will not start

Sounds like a bad battery. Do not lock or unlock the doors until you verify the battery is good. If the alarm was on when the battery went dead, you may not be able to open the bonnet to jump the battery. The 1999 Boxster does not have a red jumper post on the fuse box. You may need to hook a male-to-male cigarette lighter between the car and another car. Do not try to start the car with the cigarette lighter connect. When charged, you should be able to reset the alarm and open the bonnet. You may will need to reset your radio when the battery is replaced: http://www.a2dvoices.com/realitycheck/porsche/

My roof will not go down. The windows do when I unleash the hook. 1996 model. Never had a problem.Same as guy before, no sound, click, nothing. Have checked all my fuses, if blown & made sure in right...

I've got exactly the same problem. As suggested before checked the fuses, checked the brake light comes on don't know what could be the problem. Spoke to an independent porsche mechanic who says its probably a cable jam in the roof. £120 to unjam. I've got my doubts as there is no noise or anything its just dead!! Any joy with your roof any help would be most appreciated.

2002 boxster roof is stuck down

Jun 20, 2009- Hi, try the below, it worked for me. Just cut and pasted mine. Hope it works for you.

All sorted, thanks. I did check the fuse and it was OK. Thankfully I found another problem the same on here which suggested it might be the microswitch under the handbrake lever which de- activates the hood. Prior dismantalling the centre console I thought, maybe if it's stuck a bit of wiggling of the hand brake might just do it. I released the handbrake and pressed it down with a bit more than usual force several times repeatedly into the off position. Lo and behold, I pressed the button again and it worked!!! Hooray for the internet!!! Thanks so much, had the pound signs flashing before my eyes for a moment!!!
