Question about Land Rover Range Rover

2 Answers

I have a range rover 3.9 classic yr 94m it overheats quickly under load and lacks power particularly uphill. I,ve had it checked by a mechanic in italy where the car is located and we carn't find the cause. the head gasket has been replaced due to this problem but still the same. The car to me lacks power to its original performance and stalls occassionally how ever the car can be driven in most situations but when climbing it rapidly overheats and boils over what can i do can it be saved or is it a big expensive repair ?

If that model of Range Rover is turbo charged I would be looking at getting that checked.

If that model of Range Rover is turbo charged I would be looking at getting that checked as this supply's your engine with power under load such as towing.

Have you checked the engine timing (advance). If that is not working you will have a loss of power, overheating, funny noises.

If it is fine then check cylinders for compression and cylinder firing.

I bought a 2000 range rover already converted to coil springs and shocks, now I have an eas fault constantly on the dash, how do I get rid of the eas system in the computer?

For many repair operations you don't want the suspension to be adjusting itself up and down while you work on the vehicle. Classic air sprung models have a disable switch under the seat, but this is lacking on the 4.0/4.6. On these models, the following options are available for disabling the system:
1. Leaving a door or the tailgate open effectively freezes the suspension
2. Unplug the air suspension delay timer, a small black box that looks like a large relay under the drivers seat.

87 Range Rover Classic High-beams are always on when headlights

There is a relay, and fuses. Some realys under lower facia panel driver side UK 87 models, however there were some variations so check under the bonnet too.

This does sound more like a short, if all relays are ok. Check the head light units and work your way back. The wiring in these are not the best in the world, plug at back of head light unit suspect too.

Do your lower driving lights common too, when you have the switch in ? Has some one been messing about with this wiring, runs down by air dam.
