My 2007 Saab 93 car is malfunctioning. key will not start nor come out. dashboard, interior, head and rear lights are flickering. nothing works. I got into my car started it and turned it quickly back off to go back inside and when I came back out to restart the car, it would not start nor turn. key took forever to get out. I took cable off of battery for 5 minutes and put it back on and still the same results. what do I need to do?

Your little plunger switch connection just below the door hinge is corroded or defective on that door. The switch is not on the door itself but on the frame where the body meets the door when closed. You can push in the switch with your finger to test it.

SOURCE: 2003 Saab 9-3 won't start. Battery appears to be fine.

You could try tapping the starter and/or having it checked by a mechanic. If the vehicle is starting once in a while, have a mechanic check the Crank Shaft Position Sensor located on the Intake Manifold under an aluminum bracket. The wire to the sensor leads towards the throttle body. the connector at the throttle body is blue. This sensor is notorious for giving out gradually. If this is the problem, seriously replace it as the vehicle could die when driving (i've heard, but don't quote me on that). I owned a 2001 9-3 turbo and the same thing would happen until it no longer cranked. I replaced it when i researched the issue on the internet. The car turned on as soon as i replaced it 8) and did not have the same problem again.

Good luck!

The battey may seem fine , but it most likley is weak and needs to be charged , or replaced. The clicking you hear is the ign relay or solenoid not having the amperage to fully engage the starter to allow the starter to turn the flywheel and start the engine. Also really check you battery connections , make sure they are super clean and tight.

My 2004 saab 93 key wont turn.the lights come on but the little brakes indicator wont light up on my gear slot but my emergency brake is stuck on and it says steering lock malfunction on my s.id

You can't turn the key due to the steering lock malfunction, you now need to have the systems control module scanned for faults. That is the first step to diagnose and repair this fault. You will need a special scan tool for this, so find a shop that has one that will read this Saab system codes.

Locate where the poor ground is. Look on the engine for several wires being held down with a bolt. See if there is a small diameter wire along with the large diameter negative battery cable. Check the other end of the wire for corrosion where it attaches to the body. Clean both battery posts and cable ends too.

Saab 93 will not start

Hi

I have had this problem with my 2003 Saab 9-3 for a little while now. I would drive it to the shops or the gym and after an hour or so return to the car and it fails to start. The lights indicate all checks are OK but the car will not start, no sound, nothing. It then magically starts after 20 - 30 minutes. This normally happens during hot weather. Any advice is very much appreciated.

Dashboard lights

does it light up like a christmas tree? I had a simliar problem last year on my 2000 9.5 aero. I beleive it was the tcs on, tcs off, emergency light, and 2 others, i forget now. After paying the saab dealer $800 to try and diagnose it, finally they came up with a faulty abs switch. Cost to replace was over 3k. I took it to my other mechanic and he found one in a junk yard for half the price. I had it replaced over a year now and it works fine.
Have them check out the ABS switch. I later found simliar info on the web of other saab dealers
