Question about 2002 Buick Rendezvous

2 Answers

My Rendevous air Cond was working fine, although if fan blower was moved to settings 4,5 or 6 the fan stopped. The last time it got accidentally turned to 6 and went off, I turned the blower to off, then turned it back to 3. The blower come on but the air cond clutch will not engage. Is there a fuse I can check? While exploring this used car looking for an owner's manual I found the fuse panel but no chart, and I found a hidden access for the air flow filter, with no filter in it.

Since I've had it, the blower has never worked on 4, 5 or 6, but the air worked fine on the lower speeds; now the compressor clutch won't kick on at all.

This is what my mechanic called the control box?? He said it cost $400; when I said forget it he came up with a used one for $100.

Hello! In the under-hood fuse block, check the A/C clu fuse (10A)...If compressor clutch will not pull and all fuses are OK the system is low/empty of refrigerant...
The reason you've lost the higher blower motor speeds is caused by a defective resistor assembly...It is bolted to the top of the blower motor with a 7 pin connector...Remove glove compartment to gain access...Here are fuse block diagrams...#1=under-hood...#2= interior...

The regulator seems to be defective. It stays connected till 3 and then the wire has snapped. That is why 4,5 and 6 are non functional. Please replace the regulator.

Its up to you. 100 USD is a lot of money converted to my currency, Indian Rupee. About 25% of the cost of a new AC. I am at a loss of words. But if it has to be done, it has to be done. You would know better being an American.

Where is the small blower the samples the air insie the cabin on a 93 Mercedes 2.8 this is the part # 0008301908 its about 3 inches long and its not the same as the primary blow motor underneath the...

Under the dash . Remove the glove box to see it. It is the sampling fan that blows cabin air past a temperature sensor to allow the automatic heating system HVAC to keep temperature you set, steady.

The HVAC will work just fine without it although you may have to fine tune the temperature setting from time to time.

The problem is the blower motor speed control resistor, it is located near the blower motor in the housing. I exchanged mine and it works like a charm now.

Heater/air cond blower only works on high. any

It is the Blower Motor Resistor located behind the Glove Box on the dash. Remove the Glove box to access. It is mounted against the fire wall. This is a common problem. My 2002 did the same exact thing.
1. Disconnect the negative side of Battery.
2. Disconnected the Electrical Connection to the Resistor.
3. Remove the bolts/screws. I believe they have 8mm heads, there should be 2 of them.
4. Replace with new one.
5. Reconnect the negative side last.
6. Test System before putting the glove box back in!
7. Enjoy the CONTROLLED HEAT!!

My blower only works on setting 123 + air con not that cold

You have a resistor array assembly going out. What you described is typical of the first resistor going out and over loading the second, which goes out and overloads the third. Replace the HVAC resistor array. Don't buy a used one. Spend the extra money on the new OEM dealer item. Good luck to you.
