Question about 1996 Chevrolet C3500
Looking to change 1996 Chevrolet C3500 from 5.7 gas to 6.2 diesel any easy way to tell which transmission I have and will I need to change out the wiring harness and computer?
Actually, the last post is dead wrong. The 6.2 was a great engine, it would run and run and run. The 6.5 is a garbage motor, soooo many problems. The 6.2 was gutless, but it got incredible mileage.

NOT WANT A 6.2 DIESEL!!! It was one of the worst diesels GM had plus in 1996
you would go witha 6.5l diesel. You would need computer, wiring, IPC and some
other stuff, the trans will bolt up, but you better hope its a 4l80E or it
will blow up! To be completely honest its not worth it! just as long as you
dont live in california
