Actually, the last post is dead wrong. The 6.2 was a great engine, it would run and run and run. The 6.5 is a garbage motor, soooo many problems. The 6.2 was gutless, but it got incredible mileage.

YOU DO NOT WANT A 6.2 DIESEL!!! It was one of the worst diesels GM had plus in 1996 you would go witha 6.5l diesel. You would need computer, wiring, IPC and some other stuff, the trans will bolt up, but you better hope its a 4l80E or it will blow up! To be completely honest its not worth it! just as long as you dont live in california

I have a 95 chevy pick up with 6.5 diesel engine and converted to gasoline engine witch is 5.7 vortec engine and change all the wire harness inside the cab and engine compartment. Trying to figure out the...

Hi :) Check the wiring harness for a fuel pump relay that is on the firewall. The trans is computer controlled (shift points, firmness, ect). You would either need to run a TBI motor from a '92-95 3-4 or 1-ton truck and get the computer to go with it. Then the new gas computer can run the trans. You will also need to swap the torque converter to a gas unit instead of the diesel. OR get whatever motor you want, and then use a stand-alone controller for the trans. They cost about $600+ for the controller. Still need to do the torque converter. You could run the diesel TC but it just wouldn't perform to full potential.It will bolt up, but a diesel transmission is different from a gas transmission. Diesels shift way earlier and only go to 3500 rpm max. If yo u do the engine swap, you will need a new valve body in the transmission. I have a 700R4 in a 1935 Ford truck. It never shifted right unless I drove it manually. It always bogged down. I took the transmission to 5 different shops and no one could figure it out. After 6 years, I was telling a buddy about it and he had me bring it to his shop. He changed the valve body (was a diesel trans and I didn't know when I bought it at an auto swap) to a corvette valve body and now the truck runs great.

My 1993 chevy 3/4 ton 4X4 wont shift? Its a new transmission and i also just put a new torque converter in it! Speedometer don'w work also!

If your transmission is part electronic, its the tps throttle positioning sensor. if its a diesel it will be on the passenger side of the injector pump, if it's gas same side. if it gets loose or goes bad you will have these problems. and your speedometer problem is likely the speed sensor located at the back end of the transmission. very easy to replace. the tps on a diesel not so easy. good luck!

I'm having a hard time looking for a replacement EPC for my 1996 Chevy Suburban (6.5 liter diesel). The part number is 24203101. Can you help me find one?

EPC? Pressure control solenoid for the transmission. 4L80E. The dealer doesn't have one? No luck at parts stores. I get trans parts from a place called MId-States Transmission parts. I know they have one. 1-800-325-6772

1996 Chevy cavalier is stuck in neutral

There are no easy fixes with automatic transmission but you could have the shift linkage checked to see if it can be adjusted. The neutral adjust switch may be out of adjustment or malfunctioning. It could be a number of problems but I would take it to an expert you trust because it may be something simple and they will tell you that you need your transmission rebuilt.

A transmission service may solve this,check the trans fluid it should be ruby red and clear anything else and it needs to be changed along with the trans filter.

1996 Chevy Tahoe with Transmission issues

Hello;
The ECM is located inside your passenger kick panel. The codes that your friend pulled relate to the drivetrain portion of the ECM. The controls and solenoids that are causing your shudder are inside the transmission in the valve body. The TCC is probably at fault and locked on. Hope this clears things up. Let me know if you need more help.
Thanks;

How many cylinders is a malibu classic? The car is waisting a lot of gas for the cylinders that i think it is.

Count all the plug wires. this will tell you how many cylinders you have. For better gas mileage make sure you check the air in all the tires, change the oil, air and fuel filters. Give it a good tune up and keep your foot out of it. drive easy start and easy stop. this will help your gas mileage.
