I have found these diagrams to be very helpful when wiring up trailer connections, and I have always had success using these diagrams.

I would reccomend you go back to the alternators again. Have it tested. There are many bad parts going over the counter these days, and I have replaced"new alternators" 3 times before getting a good one.

Have f250 7.3 diesel. Have batteries replaced and alternator checked. Having problem with it eratically showing charging then lights will go dim. Then it will show it charging again. Seems to be worse when...

Check the wiring on the Alternator leading back to the Firewall. On some models there is a split in the wiring and one side has a fusible link on it. Sometimes the wiring rests on metal parts and wears through from vibration. Check for this and tape the wires to avoid the rubbing.

Ford in the past has put fusible links near the Batteries and when the Batteries are removed, the wires are brittle and possibly corroded. Its just a matter of failing a little earlier from being disturbed than from corroding through. Check all of your connections.

Make sure your Batteries are fully charged. They should be at 13.2 to 13.4 Volts. I know of an increasing amount of Ford products having charging problems immediately after a Battery switch.
Alternators have stopped charging while the vehicles are on the E-way. The charging systems are being disconnected by something built into the vehicle. I suspect the Anti-theft or Battery-saver systems.

I hope my solution helps you.

2004 f250 diesel with dual alternaters & batteries. Alternaters & batteries have both been changed & have had 3 ford dealers try to fix it but will quit charging ti the point the engine dies.

Just a thought.......... If the alternator is not grounded properly to the chasis , it will not charge , and the charge light probably will not come on either. Check for loose , or corroded ground wire or strap.

I have a 1999 F250 Super Duty Lariat Super Cab 7.3L diesel. The wiring for the tow hitch is 4 prong flat with 3 extra wires. What was included from the factory and\r\nwhat do I need to pul camper with rv...

With 4 prong and 3 extra, that will give you what you need for 7 prong for towing RV. If your not too experienced in that area, a mechanic at any trailer place, or hitch installation place or who knows RV wiring, should be able to do it for you in about 1/2 hr. or less. Testing the wires from your truck for what they do as in right , left, stop, running/taillights, etc is about the hardest part, and the 7 prong usually comes with what terminal does what.48e2ffb.jpg

wont charge what? If you are talking about the battery have you had the altenator checked or checked the fuses, battery terminals, and cable corrosion, or lose connection.

Ford f250 superduty turbo diesel 7.3L Will not crank

Charge the batteries. take a Reading to make sure that you are getting almost 14v to both batteries. If it is not charging then take the alternator back off and have them check it. you might have bought a bad one. There is a way to test the glow plus with out taking them out. ( Take a piece of wire long enough to reach all the glow plugs from the battery. unplug the glow plug wire.If you touch the end of the glow plug with the hot wire it should make a little spark. if no spark then the glow plug is bad. do this to each one, but one at a time)

2002 F250 7.3 drains batteries and dies

You need to have the alternator re-checked and be sure the wiring is clean & correct. If an alternator is working properly & wiring is correct, those batteries should be charging as you drive.

Randomly loses charge....after installing new alternator

Hello,
It would appear that your truck has a bad ground connection between either the battery to the engine or a bad connection /wire between the engine and the body frame (most likely). the wire probably broke a long time ago and just by luck and mechanics the connection was made but now the vehicle is older the problem is getting worse. My best solution is to run a new wire between the body frame and the engine -that usually solves most issues. Make sure the contact points are super clean, down to bare metal on both ends!
